Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
Pan can’t be killed without costing him his own life. Reconsidering, Regina suggests that they
come up with a way to contain Pan, and Gold admits that he had something in his shop that will
do the job. He didn’t bring it with him because he didn’t anticipate living. Regina tells him that
he is too interested in his own skin to ever put it at risk and says that they need a way to cross
between realms.
Regina tells Ariel that she can help with her dilemma and tells her to lie to Eric. When Ariel
wonders how she can conceal the fact that she’s a mermaid, Regina says that she can grant her
greatest wish and give her legs so she can be a part of Eric’s world forever.
Later, Ariel goes to Snow on the dock and tells her that the goddess has granted her wish,
and provided Snow with a way to escape from Regina forever. She puts a bracelet on Snow’s risk
before Snow can object, and Snow transforms into a mermaid. Ariel assures her that she can
escape Regina and have a life beneath the sea. Regina appears in her real form and Ariel realizes
that she was disguised as Ursula.
Mary Margaret follows Neal’s trail to a cave. When they wonder why it isn’t guarded, Hook
warns them that it doesn’t require guards.
He explains that the only way to rescue someone from inside the cave is to confess one’s
darkest secret, a secret that the owner would never admit to anyone else. When Emma wonders
why Pan would make it relatively easy for them, Hook warns them that Pan hopes that when
they reveal their secrets they will destroy themselves from within.
Regina tells the two women that the bracelet can’t be removed and advises Ariel to leave,
warning that she won’t get a second chance. Ariel hesitates, refusing to abandon Snow, and
Regina asks if she is going to choose Snow over her happy ending. The former mermaid hesitantly
tells Snow that she’s sorry and then walks away. Regina then starts magically choking Snow, who
can’t run... and Ariel returns with a salad fork from the palace. She stabs Regina in the neck,
distracting her long enough that she can remove the bracelet and throw it into the ocean. As
Regina recovers, Ariel reverts to her mermaid form, grabs Snow, and dives into the ocean.
Once inside Echo Cave, the group finds a vast chasm. Neal’s cage is on the far side and
there’s no way across. When the others wonder how they know revealing secrets will help, Hook
goes first and tells everyone that he kissed Emma. Emma points out that she already told Mary
Margaret, but Hook says that the meaning of the kiss is the secret: he never thought he could
love anyone other than his first love, Milah.
A bridge forms partway across the chasm and David starts to go next. Mary Margaret interrupts
to tell him that she loves Emma and is proud of everything that she’s done. However, Mary
Margaret regrets missing Emma’s growing up, and wants to have another child when they return
to Storybrooke. David says that nothing would make him happier and that he knows that she
would make an amazing mother, but confesses his own secret. She can never have a child by
him because if he leaves Neverland, he will die from the dreamshade poisoning. David explains
how he took the spring waters as a cure but that it will only last as long as he is on the island
The bridge finishes crossing the chasm and Emma goes to Neal’s cage. She is unable to cut it
open and Neal reminds her that she has to confess her dark secret, assuring her that she can tell
him anything. Emma says that she was terrified when she learned that he was alive, because
she didn’t want to face all of that pain again. The cage fades away and they embrace.
As the group leave the cave, Neal says that he knows how to get off the island. As they go to
get Tinker Bell so she can get them into Pan’s camp so they can rescue Henry, Emma privately
apologizes to Neal, admitting that she can’t change how she feel. Neal assures her that after all
that he’s put her through, she has nothing to apologize for. However, he promises to never stop
fighting for her... unaware that Hook is secretly listening to them. Meanwhile, David tries to talk
to his wife about how he kept the secret of his dying from her, but she refuses to listen.
The next morning, Ariel returns Snow to shore. Snow tells her friend to get Eric, sure that
he’ll wait as long as possible for Ariel to return. After a moment, Ariel swims to the palace. Eric is
on the dock waiting, just as Snow thought. Ariel arrives and tries to call to him, only to discover
that her voice is gone. Regina appears on the dock as Eric goes back inside, and tells Ariel that
just as she promised, Ariel wouldn’t get a second chance. The mermaid doesn’t have her voice,
so she can never tell Eric her true feelings. Ariel swims away and Regina returns to her castle.
When she turns to her magic mirror, she sees the real Ursula inside of it. The goddess grabs her
through the mirror and warns the queen never to impersonate her again, and then disappears.
Regina and Gold go to the island shore and Regina picks up a conch shell. When she blows
