Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
Peter gives her chains to secure him. He warns Ruby that she has to get away from him once
he’s bound, but she says that she will stay with him and do anything for him.
At the sheriff’s office, Henry locks away his recovered storybook as Emma goes to find David.
He explains that Ruby is Red Riding Hood and doesn’t remember what she’s capable of. Ruby
comes back with lunch, depressed that she’s doing so little, and Emma tells her to come along
with her and help search for David. When Ruby hesitates, Emma assures her that she can do
it. In the woods, Ruby worries that she’ll screw everything up, but then hears something. Emma
doesn’t hear anything but Ruby runs off and finds David lying on the ground, unconscious.
He finally wakes up but has no memory of where he is or how he got there. The last thing he
remembers was being in Emma’s office the previous night.
Emma takes David to the hospital and Dr. Whale says that whatever caused his patient’s
blackout is the same thing that caused his coma in the first place. He suggests that people in
similar states can still function, and Emma wonders if David could have made the call or killed
Kathryn in such a state. Regina comes in and objects to Emma questioning David, and tells
David to get a lawyer. Dr.
Whale admits that Regina is still David’s medical contact in the absence of Kathryn and the
mayor tells Emma to go back to searching for the missing woman.
Emma calls Ruby at the station and tells her to go to the toll bridge where David was found the
last time, and see if there are any clues there now. Ruby hesitates and Emma insists to be now.
The woman reluctantly takes Emma’s car to the toll bridge and finds a wooden board lying on
the shore. She shoves it aside and starts digging with a stick, and discovers an antique wooden
box. Ruby braces herself and briefly opens the box, and then screams in horror and closes it.
Snow is pretending to be asleep, wearing Ruby’s clothing. Granny comes in and quickly sees
through the deception, and Snow finally tells her that Peter is the wolf. She tells Granny that
Peter is tied up and Granny runs off, saying that he’s in danger.
Peter is chained up and stares in horror as Red transforms into a wolf and advances on him.
Back at the station, Emma and Ruby examine the box and then hastily close it as they realize
it’s exactly what it appears to be.
Emma assures Ruby that now they can figure out what happened, and tells the woman that
she did good. She assures Ruby that however she does what she does, she’s impressed. Ruby
admits that she’s scared out of her mind but Emma points out that she did it anyway.
Granny and Snow make their way through the woods and Granny explains that Red inherited
the curse from her mother, and that the cloak is supposed to keep the curse at bay. When she
was attacked years ago, the wolf was Red’s grandfather and he marked Granny for later, when he
came back and turned her as well. Granny has a silver-tipped crossbow bolt ready and explains
that it will drop a wolf, and smells Red ahead. They advanced carefully from downwind and
find the wolf. It hears Snow and lunges at them, and Granny puts the cloak on her. As Red
transforms back, Snow realizes that Peter is dead. They hear the hunters approaching and tell
Red that they have to go, but she asks where Peter is and Snow explains that he wasn’t the wolf.
Granny apologizes for keeping Red’s secret from her and tells her that she has to go. Red realizes
what she is and bursts into tears, and Snow takes her away while Granny turns to confront the
hunters.
Ruby returns to the diner the next morning and talks to Granny, who complains about how
the scars on her arm are bothering her the same as every full moon. When Granny wonders what
she wants, Ruby says that she wants her job back and admits that she didn’t know how to be
like Granny. She balked at the extra responsibility and got scared, and Granny tells her not to
be scared. Ruby says that she is but that she’ll do it anyway because she found something in
herself that she didn’t expect. Thanks to Emma, she found out that she wants to do something
that makes her happy, somewhere that she loves. Granny explains that she wanted Ruby to
learn the business so that she could take over the place when she retires. Ruby hugs her and
Granny mutters that she’s proud of her.
Mary Margaret visits David at the animal shelter and says that everything will be okay, but
he admits that the only explanation isn’t a good one. Emma comes in and tells them that they
found a box containing a human heart. As Mary Margaret goes to David, Emma says that the
fingerprints on the box matched someone in town. When David tells Emma to arrest him, she
says that the fingerprints belong to Mary Margaret.
