She tells Gold that he’s still a man who makes wrong choices and storms off as Gold tries to
apologize.
As Mulan and Aurora set up the camp, they hear the wraith in the distance. Aurora realizes
that Phillip hasn’t returned and they realize that he’s taken the horses with him. Mulan concludes
that he was marked and left to save them, and goes after him. She says that she has to
go alone but Aurora insists on going with her. By the time she catches up, she discovers that
Mulan has already left sight.
The wraith flies into the jail and confronts Regina, smashing the cell door open. It reaches for
her and starts draining the soul force from her, but David hits it with a chair. The wraith knocks
him back and returns to Regina, but Mary-Margaret uses hairspray and a lighter to create a
makeshift flamethrower, driving it away. Regina tells them what it was and warns that it will be
back once it regenerates because it doesn’t stop until it devours its prey. She warns the others
that it’s already dead and can’t be killed.
David figures that once Regina is dead, the wraith will go away and they will be safe. Regina
tells them that Gold sent the wraith, and Emma refuses to break her promise to Henry to keep
Regina alive. Mary-Margaret asks what they can do and Regina says that they can send it somewhere
that it won’t hurt anyone.
Regina and the others go to the mayor’s office and she takes out Jefferson’s hat. As she
removes it, she asks Emma if Henry really asked her to protect his adopted mother. Emma
recognizes the hat and says that it belonged to Jefferson, but Regina says that she doesn’t know
Jefferson. As David and Mary-Margaret make torches, Regina explains that she can use the hat
to send it back to their world, which no longer exists so that it will be banished to oblivion.
Mulan tracks Phillip into the woods as Aurora rides up and insists on going with her. Aurora
refuses to abandon Phillip but Mulan says that he understands sacrifice and is sacrificing himself
for Aurora. The princess realizes that Mulan loves Phillip as well but the warrior denies it.
The wraith flies in and David holds it off with a torch long enough for Mary-Margaret to create
a flame barrier. Regina tries to get the hat to work.
Phillip wields a torch and calls on the wraith to come get him. Mulan and Aurora arrive and
he tells them to go because it’s too late for him. Mulan asks for the amulet so that she can mark
herself and let him live. Aurora doesn’t want to live without him and Phillip says that he doesn’t
want to live without her, either. The wraith flies down and Phillip tells Aurora that he loves her
and then drops the torch. The creature drains his soul from him and he collapses, and the wraith
reenters the amulet. Aurora drops to her knees, sobbing.
Regina realizes that the magic in the real world is different. Emma takes her hand and they
spin the hat together, opening the portal. The wraith lunges at Regina and Emma shoves the
mayor out of the way... and falls into the portal with the wraith. Mary- Margaret vows not to lose
her daughter and jumps into the portal. When David tries to enter, it’s too late: the portal has
closed.
Aurora and Mulan take Phillip’s body back to the castle. The princess explains that she made
her own sacrifice and ended up in her cursed state. Mulan puts the amulet in a bag and gives it
to Aurora, saying that she should have it.
David turns to Regina and asks where Mary-Margaret and Emma are, and the mayor admits
that she has no idea. When he reaches for her, Regina casts him back with a spell and traps him
against the wall. She says that she can kill him and reaches for his heart... just as Ruby brings
Henry back. The wall releases David as Regina tells Henry that Emma and Mary-Margaret are
gone. He doesn’t believe that Regina is sorry and says that she really is the evil queen, and says
that he doesn’t want to see her again. Regina insists that she loves him and Henry tells her to
prove it by bringing Emma and Mary-Margaret back. Until then, he wants nothing to do with his
adopted mother and David says that he’ll take Henry in.
Belle returns to the pawnshop and Gold tells her that the wraith is gone and Regina is alive.
When Belle wonders if he got what he wanted, he tells her that it remains to be seen. She picks
up the teacup that she chipped in the fairytale world and is surprised that he still has it. Gold
tells her that it’s the only thing in his shop that he truly cherishes. He then asks her to leave
because he’s still a monster no matter what she believes. Belle says that’s the reason that she
has to stay.
David takes Henry to Mary-Margaret’s apartment and promises the boy that he will always
find them, and he knows they’re still alive.
