that he’s protecting Ruby and endangering everyone else. David tells him to get out but Spencer
demands that the sheriff turn Ruby over for justice. If David refuses, Spencer threatens to tell
the townspeople what David is doing. David refuses to cooperate, saying that Spencer will have
to go through him to get to Ruby, and Spencer says that he’s looking forward to it.
That night, the pack transforms and run through the woods together. The next morning, Ruby
wakes up and tells her mother that she remembers everything. She realizes that she doesn’t have
to be afraid anymore.
Spencer gathers the townspeople and demands to know why Ruby is still alive when they
know that she’s the killer. He accuses David of harboring the killer and the townspeople storm
the sheriff’s station... only to discover that David has taken Ruby and left.
David takes Ruby to the library where Belle has volunteered to help her friend. They chain
Ruby up and David leaves with Granny to track down the real killer. As they go, David asks Belle
to call him if the mob gets to the library.
The pack is sleeping when Snow bursts in. Quinn grabs her and Red explains that Snow is
her friend, the only person to accept her as who she really is. They release Snow and she admits
that she thought that the Queen’s men had captured and killed Red. She followed the wolf prints
in the forest like Red taught her to do. Quinn explains who they are and Red tells her friend
that she has nothing to fear. When Snow says that they have to leave, Red hesitates and Snow
realizes that her friend is going to stay. Red explains that she’s found a home where she doesn’t
have to be ashamed of what she is. Snow says that she understands and would do anything to
be with her mother again, and hugs her friend goodbye.
Before Snow can leave, the queen’s men barge in, having followed Snow. One of them shoots
Quinn in the chest before the pack kills him and the rest. Red runs to Quinn only to discover
that she’s too late.
As the sun goes down, Ruby tells Belle to leave before she transforms and endangers her.
Belle refuses to abandon her friend but Ruby says that she has killed and that people should
be afraid of her. The librarian doesn’t believe it, saying that she can see the good in Ruby and
that Ruby needs to look into herself and see what the others see in her. Ruby admits that Belle
may be right... and then chains her to a shelf. She goes out to confront the mob, saying that she
deserves to die for what she’s done.
Granny traces the blood on Billy’s coat with her own enhanced senses and the trail leads to
a parked car. David opens the trunk and they find Ruby’s cloak and a bloody hatchet inside.
They realize that someone stole Ruby’s cloak to force her to transform, and then killed Billy to
frame her. David checks the car registration and confirms that it belongs to Spencer. He figures
that Spencer set up the whole thing so that he could wrest power away from David and get his
revenge. As they talk, they hear Ruby howling in the distance.
Anita speaks over Quinn’s body and then turns on Snow, blaming her for leading the Queen’s
men to their sanctuary. Ruby comes to her friend’s defense but Anita passes sentence on Snow,
saying that the pack will eat her to avenge Quinn. Red objects and Anita orders her to kill her
friend since that’s what it means to be a wolf. When it’s clear that her daughter won’t kill her
friend, Anita transforms and prepares to kill Snow herself. Red transforms as well and leaps at
her mother, knocking her onto a sharp pole. As Anita lies dying, Snow throws Red’s cloak over
her, transforming her back to her human form. Red goes to her mother, who accuses her of
choosing Snow over her, but Red insists that she chose herself and that she’s no killer.
Spencer leads the mob to the library and they hear Ruby howling from down an alleyway.
They find the wolf there and Spencer prepares to shoot her. However, Granny knocks the gun
out of his hand with a crossbow shot and David tells the mob what Spencer did. He assures them
that Ruby won’t hurt anyone and, taking the cloak, goes down the alleyway and approaches the
wolf. It growls at him and David tells her that Spencer set her up and that she’s no killer. He tells
her that she can control the wolf and, after a moment, Ruby sits quietly. David puts the cloak on
her and she transforms back into her human form. Ruby thanks him for saving her and he says
that all he did was remind her of what she already knew.
Spencer breaks away, gets into his car, and drives off. David and Ruby drive after him, Ruby
following the killer’s scent. They track him to a field and discover that Spencer has started a
fire. He freely admits that he killed Billy and tells David that he will never see Emma and Mary
Margaret again. Spencer then throws Jefferson’s hat into the fire and watches it burn. David
knocks him down and draws his gun, and Spencer tells him that he should have killed him
