Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
At the sheriff’s office, Emma is contemplating Graham’s badge when Regina comes in and
informs HER that she is appointing Sydney Glass as sheriff. Emma says that Regina can’t stand
that things are getting better, but Regina takes offense, noting that Graham’s death isn’t ”better.”
When Emma says that Graham knew what he was doing, Regina fires her and leaves with the
sheriff’s badge.
At her apartment, Emma is taking apart the toaster when Mary Margaret comes in. Emma
tells her what Regina did and Mary Margaret is surprised that she’s so passionate about it.
There’s a knock at the door and Emma finds Mr. Gold at her doorstep. He says that he wants to
discuss something with her and Mary Margaret gives them some privacy. Mr. Gold comes in and
offers his assistance to Emma since they share a common enemy. He has the town charter with
him and explains that Regina may not be quite as powerful as she thinks.
Rumplestiltskin wakes up Baelfire and tells him that they’re running away. On the road they
give money to a blind beggar, while Rumplestiltskin explains to his son that it’s better to run
away then to die in the war. Hordor and his men ride up and ask why they’re on the King’s Road,
and Rumplestiltskin claims that they’re going to sell wool. Dissatisfied, Hordor demands to know
what Rumplestiltskin’s name is and Baelfire finally tells them. Recognizing the name, Hordor
tells Baelfire that Rumplestiltskin ran while he was a soldier in the war, and his wife let him
because she couldn’t stand the sight of a coward. When Rumplestiltskin asks what he can pay
in return for Baelfire’s safety, Hordor tells him to kiss his boot as Rumplestiltskin has nothing
else to offer.
Rumplestiltskin hesitates to do so in front of his boy, but finally crawls forward and kisses
Hordor’s boot. Hordor kicks him back and then rides off. Once the soldiers are gone, the blind
beggar runs up and says that he’ll find a way to be his benefactor in return for food and lodging.
Regina holds a press conference announcing Sydney’s appointment as sheriff. However, Emma
comes in and tells the press that she doesn’t have the power to appoint a new sheriff. All she
can do is appoint a candidate for election, and Emma says that she’s running. Regina says that
Sydney is running with her full support.
One day passes with one more left until Baelfire must go to war. The beggar tells Rumplestiltskin
that he must choose a path and that everyone has a choice. Rumplestiltskin explains that
he’s a town coward, lame and friendless, and the only choice he has is which corner to hide in.
The beggar tells him that he can fight back if he has power and tells him that the Dark One
works for the Duke because the Duke has him in thrall using a mystical dagger. On the blade
is written the true name of the Dark One. If Rumplestiltskin’s steals the dagger, then he would
control the Dark One. When Rumplestiltskin says that he would be too terrified to control the
Dark One, the beggar says that he needs to take the sorcerer’s power.
Regina comes to see Mr. Gold, well aware that he found the loophole in the town charter that
Emma used. He freely admits it and mentions Graham, and Regina says that Mr. Gold knows
nothing about Graham. Mr. Gold says that they’re picking different sides and doesn’t believe
that Emma is the loser who Regina claims. When he suggests that Emma is fighting for her son,
Regina insists that Henry is not Emma’s side and Mr. Gold points out that Regina is the one
using a loophole.
Emma goes to see Henry at the diner. He’s reading an article about Emma that Sydney has
written, revealing that Emma gave birth to him while she was in jail. Henry assures her that he’s
not upset, but warns that good can’t beat evil because evil fights dirty.
When Emma tells Henry that Mr. Gold is helping her, Henry warns that he’s even worse than
Regina.
Next, Emma goes to see Regina at her office and accuses her of breaking the law and unsealing
the court records. She warns that the news will affect Henry but Regina insists that she just
showed him the truth. Regina then tells Emma that there will be a debate and they can argue it
all out in the public. The mayor warns Emma that Gold is a snake as they go downstairs. As she
opens a door through the remodeled section of the town hall, the building explodes into flame.
Regina is trapped by burning wreckage and begs Emma to help her.
Rumplestiltskin has his son help him spin wool to take to the Duke’s palace. He tells Baelfire
that he plans to steal the dagger and take the Dark One’s power once he gets into the castle,
insisting that he can use the power to save all of the children of the land.
Baelfire says that he should fight if the law says it, but Rumplestiltskin tells him that the
law wants him to die. His son realizes that he ran and that his mother left Rumplestiltskin as a
