Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
is surprised to learn that she has hearts in her vault, and Regina admits that she doesn’t know
which heart Whale stole from the mausoleum to bring Daniel back. She insists that Daniel isn’t
dangerous but David isn’t convinced and asks where Daniel might go. Regina realizes that just
like David did when he woke up, Daniel will head to the place that occupied his final thoughts...
the stables.
As Henry tends to his horse, all of the horses in the stable go berserk. Henry’s steed knocks
him back and runs out, as Daniel enters the stable and stands over Henry.
The women take Hook to a field and Emma ties Hook to a tree and then whistles, attracting
the nearby ogres. They threaten to leave him unless he tells the truth and he finally admits that
he is Hook, who Mary Margaret has heard of. Hook tells them that Cora wanted him to get close
to them and learn how they plan to get back to Storybrooke. When they wonder why Cora wants
to know, Hook explains that Cora has the ashes from the magic wardrobe. Mulan refuses to free
him given his part in the massacre but Hook insists that Cora was the one who killed them. He
offers to help them if they release him, and explains that Cora also needs an enchanted compass
to find her way back to Storybrooke. Hook promises to take them to the compass so they can get
it first. Emma agrees but first wants to know why Hook wants to go back to Storybrooke. As the
ogres approach, Hook finally admits that he wants revenge on Rumplestiltskin.
Daniel stands, frozen in confusion, and Henry notices that his hands are covered in blood.
He reaches out to help and Daniel remembers Cora reaching for him to take his heart. He grabs
Henry and starts choking him as Regina and David arrive. Regina tells Daniel to let the boy go
and he releases Henry, but then lunges at Regina. David slams the stable door shut and tries to
hold it shut, telling Regina to cast a spell. She refuses to use her magic and David takes out his
gun, saying he has no other choice.
However, Regina insists that Daniel will listen to her.
As a storm gathers, Whale takes Daniel’s body to a pavilion and makes his preparations.
Regina gives him the heart and he tells them to stand back as he performs the operation. Jefferson
and Regina watch as lightning strikes the tent and the doctor works with the heart. After a
few minutes, Whale comes out and tells Regina that the heart wasn’t strong enough to survive
the procedure.
Regina enters the stable and Daniel approaches her, reaching out for his fiancee. However, he
starts to choke her and Regina begs him to stop, saying that she loves him. Daniel finally gets
hold of himself and begs Regina to let him go so that the pain will stop. She refuses, saying that
she’s lost without him, and Daniel tells her to love again. He loses control and advances on her
and Regina reluctantly disintegrates him using her magic, saying goodbye.
As Hook takes the party through the woods to the compass, Emma and Mary Margaret discuss
the situation. Mary Margaret realizes that Emma has anticipated Cora setting the whole thing up
as a trap and is ready. As they clear a ridge, they see a giant beanstalk rising up into the clouds
and Hook tells them that there is a giant at the top who guards the compass.
Regina drives back to Storybrooke, crying.
Regina goes back to Rumplestiltskin and discovers that he has a new assistant, Trish. He
tells Regina that he needed someone dedicated to learning magic and Regina casually removes
the assistant’s heart and crushes it. Smiling in satisfaction, Rumplestiltskin invites her to return
to her lessons.
Regina goes to Archie’s office and tells him that she broke her promise and used magic.
Jefferson takes Whale into the woods, warning him that he can’t return until they complete
their deal. Rumplestiltskin joins them and Whale assures him that he convinced Regina that he
couldn’t resurrect Daniel. Jefferson and Rumplestiltskin pay the doctor his price: an enchanted
heart. Rumplestiltskin thanks him for helping him make Regina a monster and wishes Whale
good luck in making his. The doctor insists that he isn’t making a monster and that his power
will make magic that much greater, more powerful than Rumplestiltskin’s . The imp offers a wage
that it isn’t but Whale refuses. As Jefferson uses his hat to open a portal, Rumplestiltskin warns
him that everything has a price, but the doctor doesn’t believe it.
Whale puts his severed arm in a cooler and takes it to Gold’s pawnshop. He asks Gold to
reattach it but the pawnbroker refuses without an explanation. Whale admits that he brought
Daniel back in the hope that he could use the resurrection to convince her to send him back
to his land so that he could bring his brother back after his first attempt failed. Gold agrees
to reattach the arm, but only when Whale admits that magic is more potent than his power.
