Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
Emma goes over the map and recites her history of who she is and what she has done. Mary
Margaret, listening in, points out that she’s leaving out her new family. Emma acknowledges that
she’s the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, and that she was born in the Enchanted
Forest and sent to the real world. With encouragement from David and Mary Margaret, Emma
says that she’s the Savior and that she broke the curse over Storybrooke. Nothing happens and
an irritated Regina grabs the map and uses her magic to turn it into a locator. It drifts off into
the Dark Jungle and the group reluctantly follows it.
Belle leads Gold to a cliff and tells him that he’d holding something back, something that he
created the illusion of her to confront. Gold finally admits that he’s a coward, just like his father,
and that the doll was the last thing his father gave him before leaving for good. Belle tells him
that she can see the good in him and that he can as well, and asks him what he is worried about.
Gold admits that Pan has threatened to kill him unless he abandons his quest for Henry, and
that he’s considering it because that would put an end to the prophecy that Henry will kill him.
Belle tells him not to abandon Henry like he abandoned Bae, and gives him the doll. She tells
him to let go of his past and avoid making the same mistakes that his father did. Once she walks
away, Gold takes the doll and, after a moment, throws it over the cliff.
The group follows the drifting map until it comes to a halt at an abandoned camp. As they
move forward, Mary Margaret tells Emma that she can do it.
Charming take Snow to where the weapon is hidden at the top of the hill. As they walk up,
Charming admits that the dwarves don’t trust him and Snow assures him that he’ll charm them
like he charmed her. As they go up the hill, Charming explains that the weapon was created by
a good mage, Merlin of Camelot. When they arrive, they discover a stone embedded in a stone.
Charming explains that it is the legendary sword Excalibur. He tries to pull it out but fails, and
tells Snow that only the kingdom’s true ruler has the strength to remove it. Bracing herself, Snow
grasps the swords and... pulls it free.
Emma wonders if Regina’s spell has failed, but then notices Henry standing nearby, his back
to them. When they approach the boy, they discover that it’s Pan, wearing Henry’s clothing.
He tells Emma that she cheated and summons his Lost Boy, who open fire with their poisoned
arrow. One of them scratches David in the side. Regina uses her magic to drive them back while
Hook fights Felix and Mary Margaret and David hold off the others. Emma tackles one of the Lost
Boys and stares at his face, and he stares back at her, frightened. After a moment, Emma lets
him up and Pan signals the Lost Boys to retreat. Before he goes, Pan tells Emma that she’ll only
find Henry when she admits who she really is.
Snow leads Charming and the dwarves back to the village and waits for Regina to arrive to
hear her answers. When the Evil Queen arrives, Snow draws Excalibur and tells her that she
refuses her offer of exile. She refuses to abandon her people to Regina, and Regina cast a spell
to choke Grumpy and another to blast the dwarves back. When Snow hesitates, Charming tells
her that she was the one who drew Excalibur and that she can do it. Snow charges at her and
Regina teleports to the side again, but Snow anticipates the move and swings, scratching her
opponent’s cheek. Regina stares at the blood in surprise and Snow tells her that she will fight
to take her kingdom back. The Evil Queen says that they will fight and Snow promises her that
they’ll be ready.
Back at their camp, David tells Mary Margaret that the arrow only ripped his jacket. Emma
goes off on her own but Mary Margaret follows her. Her daughter admits that she’s no savior or
the map would have worked, and Mary Margaret asks why she stopped fighting.
Emma says that when she saw the boy’s eyes, she realized that there was despair in them, despair
because he’s an orphan. She recognized the emotions because they were the same emotions
that she felt, every night when she cried herself to sleep at the orphanage and in foster homes
because her parents were gone. Emma admits that she’s an orphan... and the map appears on
the paper.
She apologizes to Mary Margaret, and her mother admits that she’s right and promises to
change how she feels about being an orphan.
Snow goes off and calls on Rumplestiltskin, who appears to her. She offers to pay whatever
price that Charming agreed to, taking on his debt for finding Excalibur. Rumplestiltskin tells
her that the sword isn’t Excalibur, pointing out that the real weapon is indestructible, and melts
it with a gesture. Snow says that she used it to strike Regina, but Rumpelstiltskin takes the
necklace belonging to Snow’s mother, tells her to stop wasting his time, and teleports away.
