Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
suggests that Ariel ask Ursula for more time so she can be with Eric, but Ariel says that Ursula
is a myth and no one has seen her in over a thousand years. Snow offers to help her new friend,
but Ariel insists that she doesn’t want Eric to know that she’s a mermaid until he’s had a chance
to know her.
Mary Margaret, David, and Hook prepare to set out and Emma wonders what they’re doing.
She senses that they’re hiding something and Mary Margaret immediately tells her that Neal is
alive.
Gold is at his makeshift camp trying to force a vision of the future when Pan appears. He
warns Gold that it’s impossible to see the future in a land where time stands still, but Gold
promises to create a future where Pan is dead. Unimpressed, Pan suggests that he see the
silver lining in the whole thing. Since Gold can’t kill Pan without dying himself, he’s justified in
abandoning Henry and Neal, going back to Storybrooke, and starting a new family with Belle. He
warns Gold that Henry will never forgive him for all of the horrible things he’s done, and notes
that Gold has never forgiven his father.
At the camp, Regina figures that Pan is toying with them and refuses to go after Neal. Mary
Margaret checks the camp and confirms that Neal was apparently there, and that there are signs
of his being drugged off. Emma considers the idea but Regina tells them that they’re idiots for
chasing one of Pan’s stories and goes off on her own to find her son. Once she leaves, Emma
wonders if she’s right but Mary Margaret says that Emma owes it to herself and to Henry to
confirm if Neal is alive.
Snow and Ariel go to the ball and Snow helps her blend in with the humans. Eric comes in
and sees Ariel, and Snow pushes the reluctant Ariel over to her true love. Ariel trips trying to walk
but Eric comes over and invites her to dance. As they dance, Eric says that he remembers Ariel’s
face from the dreams he’s had after someone rescued him from the shipwreck. He believes that
Ursula rescued him from the wreck but has sent him the face of his true love, Ariel. Ariel insists
that Ursula is only a legend, but Eric points out that she’s there just as his dreams foretold.
When Ariel says that she came to the castle to see the world, Eric says that he feels the same
and that he is leading an expedition to explore the great desert. He invites Ariel to come with him
and she hesitates. Eric tells her that he is leaving the next morning and that he hopes she will
join him so that they can travel together.
After they finish dancing, Ariel goes to Snow and tells her what happened. They are standing
next to one of several dozen mirrors, unaware that Regina is watching them through her magic
mirror. Her black knights have told her that Snow died in the fall, and she kills the leader for
failing. Regina then wonders what to do next and, hearing Ariel talk about Ursula, gets an idea.
Pan and Felix spot Emma and the others making their way through the jungle. Felix wonders
what they should do with Neal and Pan tells him to take their prisoner to Echo Cave.
Gold is looking at Neal’s doll when ”Belle” appears to him again. She wants him to come
home to Storybrooke so that they can be together. Gold notes that she’s just a figment of his
subconscious and can’t want anything, but Belle continues to insist. She invites him to take her
hand and come with her, and Gold starts to take it. However, Regina steps out of the jungle and
gestures, choking ”Belle.” The vision turns into Pan’s shadow, which flies off into the night, and
Regina wonders how Gold could be so stupid.
As they travel through the jungle, Emma tells Mary Margaret that she kissed Hook. Mary
Margaret wonders if it meant anything and Emma says that she was feeling good and wanted to
share the moment. Her mother assures Emma that Neal will understand, and figures that Emma
doesn’t want to accept that Neal is still alive. However, Mary Margaret tells her that she has to
have hope because happy endings always start with hope.
When Ariel hesitates to accept Eric’s offer, Snow tells her that she has to do the hard thing
and be honest, opening her heart to love. Even if Eric rejects her, Ariel will know that at least
she tried. Ariel says that she needs time to think it over and Snow warns her that she only has
three hours left. The mermaid walks out to the ocean and calls to Ursula, asking the goddess
what she should do even though she believes that the legendary being is a myth. Realizing that
it’s pointless, Ariel starts to go but Regina emerges from the waters, disguised as Ursula.
Gold wonders why Regina is there and she admits that the others are holding her back so that
she needs Rumplestiltskin and his power if they’re to defeat Pan. Gold insists that he can’t kill
Pan without killing himself, but Regina promises him that she’s the only one who will kill him.
She figures that the two of them have enough magical power to kill Pan, but Gold insists that
