Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
As Hook and Emma search for the compass, they find a human skeleton holding a large
sword. The sword has ”Jack” etched on the blade and they realize it belonged to the legendary
Giant Killer. As Hook steps away, Emma stops him and points out a trip wire that he almost
set off, leading to a cage above. Hook continues flirting with her but Emma tells him to stick to
business.
Once Emma meets Neal, he confirms that all of the watches are there and tell her that they
can get $20,000 for them. He takes all but one, giving that one to Emma as a gift, and they agree
to meet later at a specific address. However, as Neal goes to the fence, a man chases after him.
The thief runs but his pursuer soon captures him. However, the man says that he’s not a cop and
that he’s there to help Neal protect Emma. He introduces himself as August Booth and explains
that he was Emma’s guardian angel up to two years ago. August admits that he got distracted
giving into temptation and that he lost track of Emma. When Neal points out that August isn’t
a very good guardian angel, August reminds him that Emma is now robbing convenience stores.
August realizes that Neal loves Emma and tells him that he has to leave her so that Emma can
find her destiny. If Neal stays with her then she will never find it. Neal is unconvinced and August
takes the thief to his motorcycle. He opens a wooden case and tells Neal that what he sees inside
will convince him that magic does exist and that everything he’s saying is true. Once Neal sees
the contents, he agrees to listen and August explains that Emma is the key to breaking a curse.
He asks if Neal will do the right thing once he explains exactly what the curse is and Neal says
that he’s ready.
Emma waits for Neal but he doesn’t show up or answer his phone. A policeman arrives and
puts her under arrest, explaining that Neal tipped them off to check the surveillance footage of
the train station and confirm she took the watches. The officer takes the watch and asks where
the other watches are, and Emma says that they’re gone and they’re not coming back.
Hook and Emma continue searching. When they need to climb to search, Emma insists on
Hook going first and he suggests that he trust her. The giant wakes up and comes running in,
setting off a ceiling collapse that separate Emma from Hook. Emma tries to back away but the
giant grabs her.
Two months later, Neal meets August in Vancouver and says that he wants to talk to Emma
so he can confirm that she’s okay and he can move on. August tells him that Emma got eleven
months in the prison at Phoenix and Neil insists that it should have been him.
However, August tells him that despite that, Emma will get out and do what she’s supposed
to do. Neal makes August promise that he will watch out for Emma from now on and then gives
him the $20,000 as well as the compass keychain with the keys to the yellow Volkswagen on
them. The thief explains that he was able to get a valid VIN for the car and it belongs to Emma.
Before he walks away, Neal makes August promise to tell him once the curse is broken and he
can be reunited with Emma. August agrees, telling him that he’ll send him a postcard.
The giant holds Emma and prepares to crush her, and she begs him to spare her so that she
can be with a family. He tells her that the humans killed his family and prepares to kill her,
and Emma bites his hand. Once he drops her, Emma runs to grab the Giant Killer sword and
then cuts the tripwire. The cage drops on the giant, trapping him, and Emma threatens to kill
him with the sword unless he gives her the compass. He refuses, saying that he doesn’t trust
her to spare him, and complains that it was humans that wiped out his kind to get the beans.
The legends were written by the victors and the giants took the blame. Emma persists and the
giant finally tosses out the compass, saying that he’s not the bad guy. Emma realizes that he
might be telling the truth about the humans but says that it doesn’t matter. She notices that
he’s wearing a bean on a necklace and asks if it works. The giant tells her that it’s useless and
he wears it to remember that humans are killer. Emma tells him that they aren’t all humans and
walks away. The giant frees himself but then removes masonry revealing another entrance out.
He tells Emma that he owes her a favor for sparing his life and tells her to go before he changes
his mind. However, she gets an idea and tells him that he owes her two favors, for sparing her at
the cave entrance and again in the cage.
Once she explains what she wants, Emma frees Hook from the rubble and shows him the
compass. However, she then manacles Hook to the wall and admits that she can’t trust him with
the compass, even though she think she might be telling the truth. Emma assures him that the
giant will release him unharmed in a few hours once she has a head start and walks away.
When the ten hours are up, Mulan swings at the beanstalk. Mary Margaret tackles her and
