Once Upon A Time Episode Guide
In the mines, Emma and Regina can sense the magic being sucked out of the world. They find
the diamond and Regina prepares to contain it, but Emma realizes that the effort will kill her.
Regina tells her that it’s fitting that the curse she created will kill her, and asks Emma to let her
die as Regina rather than the Evil Queen. Emma steps back and Regina casts the spell to slow
down the self-destruct.
As the forest reclaims Storybrooke one building at a time, the townspeople run in panic. At
the pawnshop, Gold and Belle share a toast but she spills it and uses her old shawl to wipe it up.
Furious, Gold stops her, saying that it belonged to someone important to him. He then takes out
a bag with the shattered pieces of Belle’s teacup and reassembles them using a spell. Gold tells
Belle that the cup is from their shared past and offers her the potion. When she drinks it, Belle
regains her memories and she kisses Gold, offering her condolences on Neal’s death. Crying,
Gold says that he didn’t want to wake her up just to die, and admits that he’s failed.
Everyone gathers at the diner and David shows them the magic bean. Henry asks about his
adoptive mother and Emma tells him that Regina is giving her life to save everyone else. The
boy refuses to let Regina die, saying that they don’t abandon family. When he mentions how
they saved Regina from the wraith, Mary Margaret suggests that they create a portal to send the
diamond through, just like they banished the wraith. Emma points out that they can all be safe
if they evacuate. However, Archie steps forward and speaks on behalf of the others, saying that
they trust Mary Margaret and David to lead them victory, just as they’ve done in the past. Mary
Margaret asks Emma to let her and David have the chance to do right by Henry, and admits that
she owes Regina the chance because she killed Cora, taking the easy way instead of a harder
path. Emma reluctantly agrees but Hook takes the bag with the bean. He’s happy to let Regina
die, but Emma tells him that he can either work with them and be a part of something, or go his
own way. Hook hands her the bag back but then asks why she is really helping Regina. Emma
tells him that she won’t let Henry lose another relative and Hook realizes that Bae is dead.
Smee wonders why they’re putting themselves at risk by keeping Bae, but Hook refuses to
let anyone question him. Bae comes up from below and stabs at Hook with a knife. The captain
avoids the thrust and Bae tells him that he found Milah’s drawing on Hook’s desk.
He realizes that the pirate is the one who killed Milah, but Hook tells Bae that he fell in love
with Milah and they ran off, and The Dark One killed her by ripping out her heart. Hook insists
that he and Milah always planned to go back and rescue Bae when he was older, but Bae accuses
him of destroying his family as much as Rumplestiltskin did. The boy asks Hook to take him back
to his real family, the Darlings, but Hook admits that he doesn’t know how. Angry, Bae says that
he’ll have nothing more to do with him and walks away.
Emma, David, Mary Margaret, and Henry go to the mineshaft and tell Regina that they plan
to send the diamond through the mortal.
Regina warns that it might not work but Mary Margaret says that it’s the best chance that
they have. However, when they open the bag, they discover that Hook took the magic bean before
he gave it back to Emma.
Hook sails away from Storybrooke aboard his ship, the magic bean in his hand.
As Bae waits at the rail, Hook approaches him and says that the Jolly Roger can still be his
home. Bae refuses to change despite Hook’s promise that he’ll change for him. The boy says that
Hook will never change and that he only cares for himself. As Bae walks away, Hook sarcastically
thanks him for reminding him what he’s all about. The Lost Ones come over the side of the ship
and take Bae, and Bae realizes that Hook has betrayed him. He angrily says that the pirate is
just as bad as Rumplestiltskin. As the Lost ones take Bae to their boat, Hook asks Felix if the
Master will be pleased, but Felix leaves without saying anything.
Hook looks at the wheel where he taught Bae how to sail and then at the magic bean.
The forest continues spreading through Storybrooke, reclaiming the land.
At the mine, Emma hugs her parents while Henry goes to Regina. She admits that she isn’t
strong enough to stop the diamond. Emma gets an idea and suggests that she combine her
magical abilities with Regina to stop the failsafe. David and Mary Margaret get Henry away while
Emma and Regina combine forces. The magic bursts out from the diamond and it drops to the
ground, harmless.
Gold emerges from his shop to watch as the forest withdraws as the failsafe ends.
David and Mary Margaret run to help Emma, while Regina picks up the diamond. However,
they quickly realize that Henry has disappeared. When they find his discarded backpack, they
