know who David really is but David dares him to try. He’s confident that the townspeople will
stand by him, having seen him defeat King George in the fairy tale world, and dares Spencer to
do his worst.
Once Spencer leaves, David checks in the back and discovers that Granny is converting her
freezer into a cage for Ruby. Ruby explains that it’s the first full moon since the curse is broken,
and that she hasn’t had the chance to control her transformation in the 20 years since everyone
was cursed. David assures her that she won’t harm anyone and that he trusts her but, Ruby
refuses to take the chance.
Snow and Red run from the Queen’s soldiers, fighting them off when they get too close. They
finally hide and Red notices that the hood of her cloak was torn in the struggle. She reminds
Snow that it’s a full moon and tells her friend to get away before she transforms. Snow reluctantly
agrees and tells Red to meet her at the stream in the morning. When Red wonders why Snow is
being so kind to her, Snow says that she knows that Red isn’t a monster. As Red goes her own
way, a man named Quinn watches from the woods.
The next morning, Granny goes back to the diner and discovers that Ruby has ripped her way
out of the freezer, leaving claw marks everywhere.
Henry wakes up from his nightmare of being trapped in a flaming room with the mystery
woman across the floor. Regina is at his side and explains that David took an emergency call and
called to have her look after Henry. She examines her son’s hand and discovers that it’s burned.
Granny and David follow Ruby’s trail into the woods and find her unconscious on the ground.
When she wakes up, she says that she doesn’t remember what happened but fears the worse.
David assures her that everything is fine and then gets a call telling him that someone at the
cannery is double-parked. He tells the others that they’ll check it out on the way back.
Red wakes up in the morning and realizes that the cloak is intact enough to keep her from
transforming. As she goes to the stream to wash up, Quinn grabs her cloak and runs off into the
woods. Red follows him and he turns and threatens to burn the cloak. He says that he knows
she is a wolf, a child of the moon, and Red tackles him. They struggle and Red realizes that
he’s one of her kind. She explains that her parents died and never told her the truth, and that
Granny lied to her until she realized she was cursed. Quinn figures that Red is blacking out and
has been hurting people, and says that he knows what she’s going through because he’s been
through the same thing. He tells Red that there is a way to control the wolf and tells her to follow
him.
Quinn takes Red to a sunken castle that his pack now uses as a hidden sanctuary. A woman
with glowing gold eyes steps out of the shadows and introduces herself as Anita. She thanks
Quinn for finally locating Red and tells the girl that she’s her mother.
David stops at the cannery with Ruby and Granny and they realize that the reported vehicle is
Billy’s tow truck. They search the truck and discover that someone–or something–has torn Billy
in two. Ruby screams, believing that she’s the one responsible.
Regina asks Gold to come to the apartment and diagnose what is the matter with Henry. The
pawnbroker tells them that the dream is a side effect of Henry being caught in the sleeping curse.
Sleeping curse victims have their souls trapped between life and death, in different realms, but
even after the curse is broken they sometimes return to that state. Gold prepares a necklace and
gives it to Henry, explaining that it will let him control the nightmare and take away the fear.
When Regina asks what the price is for the magic, Gold says that he’s doing it for Henry and that
there is no charge.
At the cannery, David refuses to arrest Ruby, insisting that he knows her and that she’s no
killer. As the townspeople gather, Ruby warns her friend that she will transform again that night
with the full moon and that he has to lock her up at the sheriff’s station.
Anita tells her daughter that Granny lied to her about how her parents had died, after stealing
the child away. The pack leader insists that the wolf is nothing to be ashamed of, and that they
are only monsters if they believe that of themselves. Anita explains that many of them spent their
lives suppressing the wolf instead of controlling, causing the blackouts and the attacks on the
innocent, and offers to help Red accept the wolf within her. Red agrees and Anita tells her to start
by removing the cloak.
After a moment, Red removes it and embraces her mother.
David locks Ruby up in a cell and promises her that he will find out who really killed Billy.
Spencer comes in and says that they already know who really killed Billy, and warns David
