COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES<br />

The curriculum also promotes the student’s<br />

professional competence through research and<br />

the study of the sciences applied to physical<br />

activities and sports. Another aspect of the<br />

program focuses on promoting student’s<br />

development and maintenance of health and skill<br />

related fitness, enjoyment of leisure activities,<br />

and leadership in recreational and sports<br />

activities in their communities.<br />

A student will be able to complete the selected<br />

program in four years without having to study<br />

during summer session programs. According to<br />

our University’s official regulations, the selected<br />

program must be completed within eight years.<br />

The Department of Physical Education requires a<br />

student to pass each and every one of the courses<br />

which are classified within the major field of<br />

study with a minimum “C” grade.<br />

The Puerto Rico Department of Education<br />

requires for teacher certification additional<br />

courses, 2.5 GPA, and a 2.85 GPA in the area of<br />

specialization which are all subject to change.<br />

Students are advised to continuously inquire on<br />

the new standards for teacher certification in<br />

physical education.<br />
