MERC 4215. RETAIL SALES MANAGEMENT.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: GERE 4007 or GERE 4022 or<br />
MERC 4217.<br />
Examination of the philosophy, concepts and<br />
techniques underlying the planning and control of<br />
inventories and sales in retail businesses.<br />
MERC 4217. CONSUMER BEHAVIOR. Three<br />
credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisites: MERC 3115 and ESOR 4006 or<br />
GERH 4006.<br />
Nature of consumer behavior through an analysis of<br />
consumer needs, attitudes, environment, and<br />
business influence.<br />
MERC 4218. MANAGEMENT OF PHYSICAL<br />
DISTRIBUTION. Three credit hours. Three hours<br />
of lecture per week. Prerequisites: MERC 3115,<br />
and GERE 4007 or GERE 4022.<br />
Analysis of activities pertinent to management of<br />
physical distribution such as warehouse<br />
management, order processing, packaging and<br />
customer service: management of transportation,<br />
commodity classification, regulation and rates,<br />
routing, documentation and carrier ability as well as<br />
the integration of these functions to the overall<br />
management activities of the business.<br />
MERC 4995. MARKETING INTERNSHIP. One<br />
to six credit hours. Four hours of work per week<br />
per credit during fifteen weeks or its equivalent<br />
during a summer session; can be repeated until a<br />
maximum of six credits are attained. Prerequisites:<br />
MERC 4217 and authorization of the Dean of the<br />
Faculty.<br />
Work experience in the area of marketing, in an<br />
office or business enterprise, under the supervision<br />
of a faculty member in coordination with an<br />
immediate supervisor at the workplace.<br />
SICI 3051. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT I.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: ADMI 3007.<br />
Elemental computer programming and solution of<br />
managerial problems using Cobol. Fundamentals<br />
of structured program design: development,<br />
testing, implementation and documentation;<br />
language syntax, file structure, input/output unit,<br />
and operational system facilities for the<br />
implementation of programs that generate<br />
managerial reports.<br />
SICI 3052. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT II.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: SICI 3051.<br />
Advanced computer programming and problem<br />
solving using Cobol. Sequential and random access<br />
files, processing techniques and development of<br />
programs and systems for batch and interactive<br />
environments.<br />
SICI 3056. STRUCTURED LANGUAGES.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: SICI 3051.<br />
Algorithm design using the logical structures of<br />
sequence, selection, and iteration. Modularized<br />
top-down design using functions, procedures, and<br />
static and dynamic data structures. Structured<br />
languages such as Pascal or Ada will be used.<br />
SICI 3057. DATA STRUCTURES. Three credit<br />
hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisite: SICI 3052 and either SICI 3056 or<br />
SICI 3058.<br />
Logical data structures as a tool in file design and<br />
as an inherent part in algorithm construction.<br />
Definition, representation, and application of data<br />
structures as basic parts of algorithms. Among<br />
others, the stack, queues, lists, trees, and graphs<br />
will be studied.<br />
