ADMI 4016. THE ENVIRONMENT OF<br />
ORGANIZATIONS. Three credit hours. Three<br />
hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite: CISO<br />
3122.<br />
A study of the legal and sociopolitical environment<br />
within which the business system operates in order<br />
to be able to analyze and understand the basic<br />
problems and issues the organization is facing in<br />
today's world.<br />
ADMI 4039. RESEARCH METHODS IN<br />
BUSINESS. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisites: ESTA 3002 and<br />
MATE 3049.<br />
Fundamentals of research methods and design;<br />
application of research techniques in the solution of<br />
business and related problems.<br />
ADMI 4040. BUSINESS DOCUMENTS. Three<br />
credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisite: ESPA 3102.<br />
The study and use of language in oral and written<br />
communication. Application of the principles of<br />
logic and psychology in the editing of commercial<br />
and official documents commonly used in business.<br />
Use of principles of editing in letters of reference,<br />
claims, and collections. Analysis of publicity as a<br />
mass communication media and its effective use in<br />
the business world.<br />
ADMI 4057. SEMINAR. Three credit hours.<br />
Three hours of lecture per week. Prerequisites:<br />
ESTA 3002 and twelve credits in program areas.<br />
An advanced and integrated course for business<br />
students. Philosophies, practices, and investigation<br />
of current problems in the field. Every student is<br />
required to submit an original dissertation on a<br />
subject or a current problem for the business<br />
manager, in partial fulfillment of the course<br />
requirements.<br />
ADMI 4058. COMPARISON OF<br />
ADMINISTRATIVE SYSTEMS AMONG<br />
ENTERPRISES IN PUERTO RICO AND OTHER<br />
COUNTRIES. Three credit hours. Fifteen hours of<br />
conference and a minimum of eighteen hours of<br />
visits to enterprises in Puerto Rico and a trip of at<br />
least twelve days to the selected countries.<br />
Prerequisite: Authorization of the Dean of Business<br />
Administration.<br />
Comparative analysis of administrative and<br />
industrial practices among different enterprises in<br />
Puerto Rico and the other countries. Managerial<br />
functions, processes, and organizational structures<br />
of enterprises will be highlighted. Includes<br />
conferences; and plant tours of enterprises.<br />
ADMI 4995. SPECIAL PROBLEMS. One to<br />
three credit hours per semester. Prerequisite:<br />
Authorization of the Dean of the Faculty.<br />
Individual studies, investigations, or special<br />
problems in any of the various aspects of Business<br />
Administration. Problems or topics will be<br />
assigned according to the interests and need of<br />
individual students. Work will be carried out under<br />
the supervision of a faculty member.<br />
ADMI 4996. SMALL BUSINESS ADVISING.<br />
One to three credit hours. Two to six hours of<br />
consultation and advising per week to participating<br />
enterprises. Prerequisite: Authorization of the<br />
Dean of the Faculty.<br />
Students will be assigned to small business<br />
administration cases, Junior Achievement minicompanies,<br />
and other appropriate organizations to<br />
develop perspective and analytical insight about<br />
operations, decision-making processes, and<br />
interpersonal, group and intergroup relations.<br />
Supervision will be in charge of a Faculty member.<br />
ADMI 4997. BUSINESS PRACTICE FOR COOP<br />
STUDENTS. Three to six credit hours. A<br />
maximum of three work periods will be permitted.<br />
Prerequisite: Authorization of the Dean of the<br />
Faculty.<br />
Supervised work experience in a government<br />
agency, private enterprise or foundation, in<br />
accordance with the student’s academic<br />
background and the requirements of the work.<br />
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION<br />
ADOF 3005. ABBREVIATED WRITING<br />
SYSTEM IN SPANISH. Four credit hours. Four<br />
hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite: ESPA<br />
3102.<br />
Principles of the abbreviated writing system in<br />
Spanish. Use of a fast and legible abbreviated<br />
reading and writing system at a reasonable speed<br />
rate. Review of essential rules for the abbreviated<br />
writing system: grammar, punctuation, spelling,<br />
and word division.<br />
