ININ 4016. INDUSTRIAL SAFETY. Three<br />

Prerequisite: ININ 4077.<br />
The fundamental of safety engineering, accident<br />
analysis and prevention, and accident cost<br />
determination; analysis of the accident problem in<br />
Puerto Rico. Emphasis is placed on the<br />
development of a philosophy of safety.<br />
ININ 4017. COMPUTER-BASED<br />
INFORMATION SYSTEMS. Three credit hours.<br />
Three hours of lecture per week. Prerequisites:<br />
INGE 3016.<br />
Analysis and design of computer-based<br />
information systems; database logical and physical<br />
models; database language; user interface; Internet;<br />
common applications to industrial engineering.<br />
ININ 4018. SYSTEMS SIMULATION WITH<br />
DIGITAL COMPUTERS. Three credit hours.<br />
Three hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite:<br />
ININ 4022.<br />
Modeling the interrelationship between systems<br />
components by means of computer programs;<br />
generation of random variables using computers;<br />
special purpose simulation languages. Input and<br />
output analysis. Emphasis is placed in problem<br />
solving using modern simulation packages.<br />
ININ 4020. APPLIED INDUSTRIAL<br />
STATISTICS. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisites: ININ 4010 and<br />
MATE 3063 or MATE 3185.<br />
Application of advanced statistical concepts in<br />
engineering. Joint probability functions, goodness<br />
of fit test, regression analysis, multicolinearity,<br />
design and analysis of industrial experiments.<br />
Emphasis of the use of statistical computer<br />
packages and their use in engineering.<br />
ININ 4021. DETERMINISTIC MODELS IN<br />
OPERATIONS RESEARCH. Three credit hours.<br />
Three hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite:<br />
ININ 4010.<br />
Formulation and solution of linear programming<br />
problems: the Simplex method, duality and<br />
sensitivity analysis; transportation problems;<br />
Critical Path Method (CPM) and Program<br />
Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT); integer<br />
programming problems: branch and bound;<br />
linearization of non-linear objective functions;<br />
shortest route and maximum flow algorithms.<br />
ININ 4022. PROBABILISTIC MODELS IN<br />
OPERATIONS RESEARCH. Three credit hours.<br />
Three hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite:<br />
ININ 4020.<br />
Simulation techniques; queuing theory; application<br />
to industrial systems problems.<br />
ININ 4027. DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF<br />
ENGINEERING EXPERIMENTS. Three credit<br />
hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisite: ININ 4020.<br />
Fundamental principles in the design and analysis<br />
of engineering experiments: randomized blocks,<br />
latin squares, split plots, factorial experiments,<br />
fractional factorials; confounding and response<br />
surface methodology.<br />
ININ 4029. HUMAN BEHAVIOR IN WORK<br />
ORGANIZATIONS. Three credit hours. Three<br />
hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite: ININ<br />
4077.<br />
Cognitive theories and behavioral principles which<br />
attempt to explain, predict, and control individual<br />
and group behavior in work organizations.<br />
ININ 4035. HUMAN RESOURCES PLANNING.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: ININ 4077.<br />
Selection, training, utilization and control of human<br />
resources. Optimum systems designs.<br />
ININ 4039. PRODUCTION PLANNING AND<br />
CONTROL I. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisites: ININ 4020 and<br />
ININ 4021. Co-requisite: ININ 4015.<br />
Analysis and design of production-inventory<br />
systems: Forecasting (Multiple regression and time<br />
series analysis), aggregate production planning,<br />
master production schedule, inventory systems and<br />
their models, project control. Computer<br />
applications in these areas.<br />
ININ 4040. FACILITY LAYOUT AND DESIGN.<br />
Three credit hours. Two hours of lecture and one<br />
two-hour laboratory per week. Prerequisites: ININ<br />
4009 and ININ 4039. Co-requisite: ININ 4015.<br />
Planning facility layout and materials handling<br />
systems. Analytical and computerized solution of<br />
problems in the design of physical facilities.<br />
