INEL 4217. MICROPROCESSOR INTERFACING.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisites: INEL 4206.<br />
Interfacing of the microprocessor with devices such<br />
as: cathode ray tube (CRT), floppy disks, hard<br />
disks, direct memory access unit (DMA), interrupt<br />
controller, timers, modems, magnetic tape units,<br />
keyboards, analog to digital (A/D) and digital to<br />
analog (D/A) converters. Emphasis in the hardware<br />
and software design.<br />
INEL 4225. DIGITAL ELECTRONICS<br />
LABORATORY. One credit hour. One three-hour<br />
laboratory per week. Prerequisites: INEL 4211.<br />
Co-requisite: INEL 4207.<br />
Experiments with digital electronic circuits and<br />
analog gates.<br />
INEL 4301. COMMUNICATIONS THEORY I.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: INEL 4102.<br />
Components and communications systems; Fourier<br />
transform analysis of filtered signals; Nyquist<br />
theorem; analog to digital and digital to analog<br />
conversion processes; bandwidth; modulation and<br />
noise. Computer-aided analysis.<br />
INEL 4305. TELECOMMUNICATIONS<br />
ELECTRONICS I. Three credit hours. Two hours<br />
of lecture and one two-hour laboratory per week.<br />
Prerequisites: INEL 4201. Corequisite: INEL<br />
4202.<br />
Impedance matching circuits; radio frequency<br />
amplifiers; filters; oscillators; mixer circuits.<br />
INEL 4307. COMMUNICATION BETWEEN<br />
COMPUTERS. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisites: INEL 4301, INEL<br />
4206 and (ININ 4010 or ININ 4011).<br />
Computer network organization. Characteristics of<br />
voice grade channels used for digital<br />
communication. Synchronization and multiplexing.<br />
Information codes and interfacing standards and<br />
protocols. Data encription techniques. Distributed<br />
computing and local area networks.<br />
INEL 4405. ELECTRIC MACHINES. Three<br />
credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisite: INEL 4103.<br />
Electromechanical energy conversion; induction,<br />
synchronous and direct current machines.<br />
INEL 4406. ELECTRIC MACHINES<br />
LABORATORY. One credit hour. One three-hour<br />
laboratory per week. Prerequisites: INEL 4115<br />
and INEL 4103. Co-requisite: INEL 4405.<br />
Magnetic circuits; single phase transformers; three<br />
phase systems: load and transformers; single-phase<br />
and three-phase induction motors.<br />

Design of electrical systems for buildings; wiring<br />
systems, illumination, protection and grounding.<br />
INEL 4408. ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DESIGN<br />
II. Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: INEL 4103.<br />
Design of electrical systems for buildings: exterior<br />
illumination, signal systems, and<br />
emergency/standby power equipment.<br />
INEL 4409. ILLUMINATION ENGINEERING.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: INEL 4103 or INEL 4075.<br />
Interior and exterior illumination design.<br />
Development and application of methods on<br />
illumination techniques.<br />
INEL 4415. POWER SYSTEM ANALYSIS.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisite: INEL 4103.<br />
Formulation of bus admittance and bus impedance<br />
matrices, symmetrical components, symmetrical<br />
and unsymmetrical faults, load flow, economic<br />
operation of power system.<br />
INEL 4416. POWER ELECTRONICS. Three<br />
credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisite: INEL 4201 and INEL 4103.<br />
Design of circuits for rectification, inversion,<br />
frequency conversion, direct current (D.C.) and<br />
alternating current (A.C.) machines control, and<br />
other non-motor applications using solid state<br />
power devices.<br />
INEL 4505. INTRODUCTION TO CONTROL<br />
SYSTEMS. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisite: INEL 4102.<br />
Analysis of control systems and their mathematical<br />
models; analysis and design of control systems for<br />
single-input single-output plants; computer solution<br />
of problems will be emphasized.<br />
