SICI 3058. PROGRAMMING IN C<br />
LANGUAGE. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisite: SICI 3052 or other<br />
advanced programming language course.<br />
The study of the unique characteristics of the C<br />
Language. Programs for different business<br />
applications will be developed using its flexibility<br />
to work at a lower level of computer hardware.<br />
Introduction to object oriented programming using<br />
C++.<br />
SICI 4085. INFORMATION SYSTEMS<br />
ANALYSIS METHODS. Three credit hours.<br />
Three hours of lecture per week. Prerequisite:<br />
SICI 3051.<br />
System development life cycle. Process flow, data<br />
structure and flow: file and input/output design;<br />
program specifications. Collection and reporting<br />
activities.<br />
SICI 4087. STRUCTURED INFORMATION<br />
SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN. Three<br />
credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisites: SICI 3052 and SICI 4085.<br />
Structured analysis and design strategies for dealing<br />
with complex information systems.<br />
SICI 4088. ANALYSIS, DESIGN AND<br />
MANAGEMENT OF AN INFORMATION<br />
NETWORK. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisite: SICI 4087.<br />
Planning, design, maintenance and management of<br />
information networks. Basic concepts on<br />
telephony, voice and data transmission, analog and<br />
digital transmission, network topology, and local<br />
area networks. Group case study, applying the<br />
acquired concepts to its solution.<br />
SICI 4095. DATABASE PROGRAM<br />
DEVELOPMENT. Three credit hours. Two hours<br />
of lecture and one hour laboratory per week.<br />
Prerequisite: SICI 4085.<br />
Fundamentals of database systems, emphasizing in<br />
data modeling and design, basic notation,<br />
functional dependencies, normalization, query<br />
languages and query processing; database services<br />
including concurrency, security and integrity. The<br />
laboratory will provide hands-on experience with<br />
database applications.<br />
SICI 4097. SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT. Two<br />
credit hours. One hour of lecture per week and two<br />
hours of supervised workshop. Prerequisites: SICI<br />
4087 and SICI 4095.<br />
Application of computer programming to systems<br />
development. Scheduling and control methods<br />
and techniques used in managerial projects toward<br />
the solution of system problems. A project is<br />
required.<br />
SICI 4140. OFFICE AUTOMATION. Three<br />
credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.<br />
Prerequisite: SICI 4087.<br />
Information and decision support systems used as<br />
critical elements of the managerial decision<br />
process. Data managerial report; electronic<br />
filing and retrieving systems; word processing and<br />
telecommunications.<br />
SICI 4144. BUSINESS PROGRAMMING<br />
LANGUAGES. Three credit hours. Two hours of<br />
lecture and one hour of laboratory per week.<br />
Prerequisite: SICI 3052.<br />
General description of programming languages.<br />
Advanced concepts and capabilities of<br />
programming languages used in the business field.<br />
Emphasis on structured program design and its<br />
implementation using two of the following<br />
languages: RPG II, RPG III, BASIC, or C<br />
Language. Comparative analysis of these business<br />
programming languages.<br />
SICI 4145. SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE<br />
CONCEPTS. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisite: SICI 3052.<br />
Technical topics related to computer systems<br />
emphasizing the relationship between hardware and<br />
software design in the development of business<br />
application programs.<br />
SICI 4155. DECISION-MAKING SYSTEMS.<br />
Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per<br />
week. Prerequisites: ADMI 3007 and ESTA 3002.<br />
Specialized information systems used by business<br />
managers to support decision-making.<br />
SICI 4157. ADVANCED DATABASE<br />
CONCEPTS. Three credit hours. Three hours of<br />
lecture per week. Prerequisite: SICI 4095.<br />
Investigation and application of advanced database<br />
concepts; management, technology, selection and<br />
acquisition of the system.<br />
