Registrar’s Office<br />

REGISTRAR’S OFFICE<br />

The Office of the Registrar provides information<br />

in an accurate manner with consistent quality<br />

service that is responsive to the needs of the<br />

university community.<br />

The office has the responsibility of maintaining<br />

academic records of students, both current and<br />

former, graduate and undergraduate, while<br />

ensuring the privacy and security of those<br />

records.<br />

Veteran Services Office<br />

The Veteran Services Office serves veterans,<br />

dependents of veterans, servicemen, and<br />

servicewomen in matters pertaining to the<br />

Veterans Administration such as: educational<br />

benefits, registration, and studies at the<br />

university. All beneficiaries must comply with<br />

the norms established by this office.<br />

The office also provides registration services to<br />

departments and students; records and reports<br />

grades; certifies attendance, grade point averages<br />

and degrees; issues transcripts, and schedules<br />

final exams.<br />

The Office of the Registrar seeks to provide the<br />

highest quality services using innovative<br />

procedures and advanced technology.<br />

Confidentiality of Academic Records<br />

The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez<br />

Campus, fully complies with the provisions of<br />

the Buckley Amendment (Family Educational<br />

Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended).<br />

This Act protects the privacy of students’<br />

educational records and establishes the students’<br />

right to examine their own files. It also provides<br />

guidelines for correcting the accuracy of the<br />

information contained in those files through<br />

informal and formal hearings. Students wishing<br />

to do so may file complaints with the Family<br />

Policy Compliance Office U.S. Department of<br />

Education 600 Independence Avenue, S.W.<br />

Washington DC 20202-4605. Copies of the<br />

institutional policy established by the University<br />

of Puerto Rico in compliance with this Act may<br />

be obtained from the Office of the Registrar.<br />
