Study of basic social institutions, processes of<br />

social change, and collective behavior.<br />

SOCI 3265. RESEARCH METHODS IN THE<br />

Critical analysis of the principles and techniques of<br />

research in the fields of the various social sciences;<br />

discussion of the historical development of these up<br />

to the present time; practical application of basic<br />

research methods in field work; tabulation, analysis<br />

An introduction to theories, concepts, and aspects<br />

related to population.<br />

SOCI 3315. MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILY.<br />

The development of the family from primitive to<br />

modern times. Special attention is given to the<br />

problems confronting the modern family, including<br />

those of the Puerto Rican family.<br />

SOCI 3325. URBAN SOCIOLOGY. Three credit<br />

Study of the theoretical formulation of urban life,<br />

with emphasis on the process of urban growth;<br />

discussion of topics such as social structure and<br />

function of the modern city, ecology, integration<br />

between city and country, urban personality, and<br />

social aspects of urban renewal.<br />

Juvenile delinquency as a social phenomenon: its<br />

nature, causes, prevention, and treatment. The role<br />

of government and community agencies.<br />
