CIMI 3043. INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH FOR<br />

TODAY'S ARMY I. One credit hour. Two hours<br />

of lecture, seminar or practical exercises per week.<br />

Designed for those Military Science students who<br />

have demonstrated an intermediate level of<br />

proficiency in the English language as measured by<br />

the English Comprehension Level Test (ECLT), the<br />

official Department of Defense English language<br />

proficiency test. Emphasis is on aural<br />

comprehension, speaking proficiency,<br />

pronunciation, vocabulary building, and a general<br />

review of English grammar using a military<br />

functional approach. To be taken only as a free<br />

elective.<br />

Comprehension Level Test (ECLT), the official<br />

Department of Defense English language<br />

proficiency test. Practice in military briefings, with<br />

special emphasis on formal and informal outlines,<br />

and the correct use of military visual aids.<br />

Leadership evaluation, including an acculturation<br />

seminar. To be taken only as a free elective.<br />

PSYCHOLOGY OF MILITARY LEADERSHIP.<br />

Four credit hours. One two-hour lecture and one<br />

two-hour drill period per week; approximately three<br />

one-day weekend training periods; additionally, a<br />

three-day field training exercise, plus the six week<br />

Advanced Camp at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.<br />

Advanced course on communication techniques,<br />

both oral and written. Development of leadership<br />

by case studies and problems analysis that require<br />

psychological techniques. Army organization.<br />

Leadership laboratories.<br />

CIMI 4012. FUNDAMENTALS OF MILITARY<br />

STRATEGY. Four credit hours. One two-hour<br />

lecture and one two-hour drill period per week;<br />

approximately three one-day weekend training<br />

periods; additionally, a five-day field training<br />

exercise, plus the six week Advanced Camp at Fort<br />

Bragg, North Carolina.<br />

Study of the principles and fundamental premises<br />

in the development of military strategy. Commandstaff<br />

functions and responsibilities in each level of<br />

command. Study of the principles for defense of a<br />

country. Leadership laboratories.<br />

CIMI 4021. MILITARY HISTORY, LEADERSHIP<br />

AND MILITARY ADMINISTRATION. Four credit<br />

hours. One two-hour lecture and one two-hour drill<br />

period per week; approximately three one-day<br />

weekend training periods; and a three-day field<br />

training exercise.<br />

Army writing style. Military administration.<br />

Compendium of military and world history from<br />

the war principles to the basic military movements,<br />

the Spanish American War, World War I, II, Korea<br />

and Vietnam. Leadership Laboratory.<br />

CIMI 4022. SEMINAR: LEADERSHIP AND<br />

MILITARY ADMINISTRATION. Four credit<br />

hours. One two-hour lecture and one two-hour drill<br />

period per week; approximately three one-day<br />

weekend training periods; and a five-day field<br />

training exercise.<br />

Analysis of leadership problems. Study of the<br />

administration of units and military personnel.<br />

Basic military justice, logistics management,<br />

command and staff responsibilities, duties and<br />

responsibilities of Army officers. Leadership<br />

laboratory.<br />
