The Greater London Authority <strong>Carnival</strong> <strong>Review</strong> Group will undertake a review of all aspects of the<br />
running of the <strong>Notting</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Carnival</strong>, with a view to making recommendations to the Mayor<br />
regarding the future development of the <strong>Carnival</strong> within London.<br />
The <strong>Review</strong> will address the current operation and management of all aspects of the <strong>Carnival</strong>, as<br />
well as longer-term trends and opportunities for the event’s development.<br />
It will work closely with the range of organisations involved in the running of the <strong>Carnival</strong>,<br />
particularly the <strong>Notting</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Carnival</strong> Trust, and will seek to take evidence from as many groups<br />
and people as possible who are engaged in the organisation of the event.<br />
The <strong>Review</strong> Group will address:<br />
• The cultural aims of the <strong>Carnival</strong><br />
• Its economic and social benefits to London<br />
• Location and organisational needs<br />
• Stewarding, safety and security<br />
• Staffing, financial and resource needs<br />
• Management and political structure<br />
• The role of the GLA, local authorities, and other funding partners.<br />
It will undertake this <strong>Review</strong> by taking evidence from the <strong>Carnival</strong> organisers and from other<br />
associated partners, such as the Metropolitan Police Service and relevant community<br />
organisations. It will also review existing literature and research, including funding agreements,<br />
committee papers etc.<br />
It will also consider evidence from organisers of similar events both in the UK and in other<br />
countries.<br />
