mecum on law and business correspondence, expressly prepared for those
involved in the East India company. The work is elegantly printed using a
newly developed typeface based on Nastat’liq script (Nustaleek type). The
Wrst section gives a concise history of Bengal, Bahar and Orissa, together
with details on Calcutta, the principal trading centre of the East India
Company. All the diVerent oYces of local administration and jurisdiction
are introduced, and information is given on local customs. The dictionary
