SECTION 1 O - STRUCTURAL STEEL<br />

10.1 OVERVIEW<br />

Refertosection O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.<br />

10.2 PREAMBLES<br />

10.2.1<br />

The tables used for calculating the mass of members shall be stated.<br />

10.2.2 Rates to include<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

Supply, fabrication, and delivery;<br />

Hoisting and erection.<br />

10.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />

10.3.1<br />

The approximate level of fixing relating to ground level shall be stated.<br />

10.3.2<br />

Schedule items shall be grouped under appropriate headings such as stanchions,<br />

beams, portals, trusses and the like.<br />

10.3.3<br />

All structural steelwork shall be scheduled overall as fixed in place, in kilograms,<br />

unless otherwise stated.<br />

10.3.4<br />

Galvanized steelwork and the like shall be scheduled separately.<br />

10.3.5<br />

Hollow sections shall be scheduled in metres and the total mass stated in kilograms.<br />

10.3.6<br />

Cold rolled sections shall be scheduled in metres and the total mass stated in<br />

kilograms.<br />

10.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE<br />

10.4.1<br />

Each size and shape shall be measured separately and grouped according to its<br />

physical position in the structure. The description shall include the number required,<br />

the approximate length, forming cambers where required and the mass per metre<br />

where appropriate. Curved and/or bent steel members shall be measured separately<br />

giving individual radii where appropriate.<br />

10.4.2<br />

The forming of holes shall be enumerated for each thickness of material, and<br />

grouped as follows:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

(c)<br />

Not exceeding 20 mm diameter;<br />

Exceeding 20 mm but not exceeding 30 mm diameter:<br />

Exceeding 30 mm diameter, with each size measured separately.<br />
