SECTION 1 O - STRUCTURAL STEEL
10.1 OVERVIEW
Refertosection O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
10.2 PREAMBLES
10.2.1
The tables used for calculating the mass of members shall be stated.
10.2.2 Rates to include

Supply, fabrication, and delivery;
Hoisting and erection.
10.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
10.3.1
The approximate level of fixing relating to ground level shall be stated.
10.3.2
Schedule items shall be grouped under appropriate headings such as stanchions,
beams, portals, trusses and the like.
10.3.3
All structural steelwork shall be scheduled overall as fixed in place, in kilograms,
unless otherwise stated.

10.3.4
Galvanized steelwork and the like shall be scheduled separately.
10.3.5
Hollow sections shall be scheduled in metres and the total mass stated in kilograms.
10.3.6
Cold rolled sections shall be scheduled in metres and the total mass stated in
kilograms.
10.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
10.4.1
Each size and shape shall be measured separately and grouped according to its
physical position in the structure. The description shall include the number required,
the approximate length, forming cambers where required and the mass per metre
where appropriate. Curved and/or bent steel members shall be measured separately
giving individual radii where appropriate.
10.4.2
The forming of holes shall be enumerated for each thickness of material, and
grouped as follows:

Not exceeding 20 mm diameter;
Exceeding 20 mm but not exceeding 30 mm diameter:
Exceeding 30 mm diameter, with each size measured separately.
