SECTION 34 - FLOOR COVERINGS<br />
34.1 OVERVIEW<br />
Refertosection O, General rules, which shall be read inconjunction with this section.<br />
34.2 PREAMBLES<br />
34.2.1<br />
Particulars shall be given of:<br />
Type and quality of material;<br />
Thickness and mass of material;<br />
Underlay;<br />
Nature of background material;<br />
Method of fixing and jointing;<br />
Pattern matching;<br />
Inlays, artwork, special patterns and the like.<br />
34.2.2 Rates to include<br />
(a) Preparation of surfaces;<br />

Adhesive;<br />
Scribing to all abutting surfaces.<br />
34.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />
34.3.1<br />
The principles for the measurement of floor coverings shall apply equally in the<br />
measurement of similar coverings to walls or ceilings.<br />
34.3.2<br />
Coverings shall be scheduled in square metres inclusive of turnups. The description<br />
shall include any underlays.<br />
34.3.3<br />
Small and isolated areas not exceeding 2.0 m2 shall be described and scheduled<br />
separately.<br />
34.3.4<br />
Deductions shall be made for all openings having an area of 0.5 m2 and over for tiles<br />
and 2.0 m2 and over for sheet material and carpet.<br />
