SECTION 22 - ROOFING
22.1 OVERVIEW
Referto section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.

22.2 PREAMBLES
22.2.1
Particulars shall be given of:
(a)
(b)
Roofing materials to be used;
Side and end laps and treatment of same;
(c)
(d)
(e)
Method and spacing of fixings;
Nature of structural supports;
Special pre-finished or applied treatment.
22.2.2 Rates to include
Laps and fixings.
22.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
22.3.1
The principlesforthe measurement of roofing shall apply equally in the measurement
of similar coverings to walls.
22.3.2
Work shall be grouped according to the kind of material involved and each group
shall be scheduled under an appropriate heading.
22.3.3
The pitch of the roof and the height of eaves above normal ground level shall be
stated .
22.3.4
The description of flashings, gutters and the like fabricated from sheet metal shall
include the material, thickness, width before bending or size, details of bending and
other labours, jointing, fixing, location and specific reference to detail drawing
number.
22.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
22.4.1 Battens
Battens, stating grade and sectional size, shall be included in the description.
22.4.2 Netting and paper
Wire netting, building paper and the like shall be measured separately in square
metres of surface area covered and the lap and fixings shall be stated.
