SECTION 15 - METALWORK
15.1 OVERVIEW
Referto section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
15.2 PREAMBLES

15.2.1
The tables used for calculating the mass of members shall be stated.
15.2.2 Rates to include
(a)
(b)
Supply, fabrication and delivery;
Fixing in position.
15.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
15.3.1
The description of each item shall include:
(a)
(b)
(c)
(d)
(e)
Type of metal;
Finish;
Mass, where applicable;
Fixings which are part of the item;
Protection by wrapping, coating, etc.
15.3.2
Detailed quantities shall be scheduled for composite fabricated items with specific
reference to drawing detail numbers, and/or specification clause numbers. The
description shall include the overall size and shape. Detailed quantities shall show:
(a)
(b)
(c)
(d)
Members either in metres or kilograms;
Welding either in metres or enumerated;
Fittings, drillings, fixings and the like enumerated;
Other labours.
15.3.3
Sizes of members, where scheduled, shall be nominal only.
15.3.4
Where members are moulded over a core, timber or otherwise, the item shall include
the core.
15.3.5
Work requiring assembly on site, where so detailed, other than bolting together, shall
be so described with the site labours defined.
15.3.6
Standard components may be described by the product name and catalogue
number.
