SECTION 18 -LAMINATED TIMBER
18.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
18.2 PREAMBLES

18.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
18.3.1
Laminated building timbers shall be described in accordance with NZS 3606.
Imported timbers shall be described in accordance with the usual local trade
practice, or as specified. Moulded, sanded, hand finished or specially worked
timbers shall be scheduled separately. Timber treatments prior to erection shall be
included with the description, and shall bedescribed in accordance with NZMP 3640
where appropriate and treatments after erection shall be scheduled in accordance
with section 35.
18.3.2
Where specified, type of adhesive and laminate sizes shall be stated.
18.3.3
Finished sizes shall be scheduled.

18.3.4
Laminated timber work shall be described according to its function and size. Details
including surface finishes, cambering, specified protection and the like done at the
time of fabrication, and height for erection, shall be included in the item.
18.3.5
Taking delivery, hoisting, setting and fixing in position may be measured separately
and the method of scheduling this item shall be clearly stated. Fixing shall be
described and classified according to position in the structure. The size and
approximate mass shall be stated.
