SECTION 32 -TILING
32.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
32.2 PREAMBLES
32.2.1 Rates to include

Protection and cleaning on completion of tiling.
32.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
32.3.1
Tiling work shall be described and the type, thickness, size and shape of tiles shall
be stated. The description shall include for preparation of surfaces to be tiled, the
bedding or method of fixing, and the width, treatment and layout of joints.
32.3.2
Exterior work shall be scheduled separately from interior work.
32.3.3
Tiling shall, unless otherwise required, be scheduled in square metres of surface
area covered.
32.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
32.4.1
Tiling on concrete, masonry, wallboard or other surfaces shall be measured
separately .
32.4.2
Work to floors, walls and ceilings shall be measured separately. Work to floors to falls
or cross falls shall be so described. Work to sloping ceilings shall be measured
separately.

32.4.3
Work to integral beams, perimeter of openings and to integral columns shall be
measured with the wall or ceiling and this shall be stated.
32.4.4
Work to isolated beams and to isolated columns shall be measured separately.
32.4.5
Work not exceeding 300 mm in width shall be measured in metres stating the width.
This shall apply to all narrow widths except those in plane surfaces caused by
openings and the like.
32.4.6
Deductions shall be made for all openings and obstructions having an area of 0.2 m*
and over.
32.4.7
Work to isolated surfaces not exceeding 1 .O m2 shall be measured separately.
