17.4.6 Battens<br />
Furring or battening to floors, walls, ceilings and the like shall be measured<br />
separately in metres.<br />
17.4.7 Flooring and linings<br />
17.4.7.1<br />
Flooring, sarking, matchlining, and the like shall be measured separately in square<br />
metres of surface area covered.<br />
17.4.7.2<br />
Special flooring, linings, and the like, laid to patterns, shall be measured separately.<br />
17.4.7.3<br />
Diagonal boarding shall be measured separately. An item shall be measured for<br />
perimeter cutting.<br />
17.4.7.4<br />
Boarding shall be measured in square metres of surface area covered. The<br />
description shall state the direction of lay, lap, or rebate where shown, and fair ends<br />
or edges.<br />
17.4.7.5<br />
Mitred angles and internal scribed angles shall be measured in metres.<br />
17.4.7.6<br />
Sheathings, linings and sheet foam polystyrene and the like shall be measured in<br />
square metres of surface area covered. Special reference shall be made where it is<br />
necessaryfor linings to be set out symmetrically to pattern or grain. Jointing systems<br />
shall be described.<br />
17.4.7.7<br />
Sheathings and linings to beams, columns, dados and the like shall be measured<br />
separately.<br />
17.4.7.8<br />
Special pre-formed polystyrene and the like columns, column heads, ornamental<br />
shapes etc. shall be measured separately. Shapes formed on-site by carving,<br />
cutting, rasping etc. shall be measured as extra value.<br />
17.4.7.9<br />
Work not exceeding 300 mm in width shall be measured in metres as extra value.<br />
This shall apply to all narrow widths except those in plane surfaces caused by<br />
openings and the like.<br />
17.4.7.10<br />
Raking and circular cutting to flooring, sarking, matchlining, boarding, sheathing and<br />
linings shall be measured in metres.<br />
17.4.7.1 1<br />
Forming recesses for light fittings and the like shall be enumerated.<br />
17i4.7.12<br />
Sanding to floors and the like shall be measured in square metres. Small areas shall<br />
be described and measured separately.<br />
