SECTION 24 - DRAINAGE<br />

24.1 OVERVIEW<br />

Refertosection O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.<br />

24.2 PREAMBLES<br />

24.2.1 Rates to include<br />

Ratesfor trenching shall include excavation, backfilling, consolidation, carting<br />

away surplus material, maintaining and supporting sides of trenches, grading<br />

bottoms and keeping free from water;<br />

Rates for pipework shall include jointwork and cutting of pipes.<br />

24.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />

24.3.1<br />

Trenches shall be scheduled in metres.<br />

24.3.2<br />

Each size and quality of pipe shall be scheduled separately in metres. The<br />

description shall include the type of material and method of jointing.<br />

24.3.3<br />

Foul drains shall be scheduled separately from stormwater drains.<br />

24.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE<br />

24.4.1<br />

Trench excavation for foul and stormwater drains shall be measured separately.<br />

24.4.2<br />

Trench excavation shall be measured stating the depth as 0-1.5 m, 0-3.0 m,<br />

0-4.5 m and so on in increments of 1.5 m and the average depth shall be stated.<br />

Backfill to excavations with hardfill or imported material shall be measured as extra<br />

value.<br />

24.4.3<br />

Rock excavation shall be measured in cubic metres as an extra value in accordance<br />

with the trench widths as determined by pipe diameter plus 300 mm or the following<br />

table whichever is the greater.<br />

24.4.4<br />

Opening of roads, footpaths, and the like shall be measured as extra value. Making<br />
