SECTION 27 - LIFTS AND ESCALATORS<br />
27.1 OVERVIEW<br />
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.<br />
27.2 PREAMBLES<br />
27.2.1<br />
The type of lift or escalator, the total rise (Le., floor level at lowest level served to floor<br />
level at highest level served), number of stops, maximum capacity or loading, and<br />
the speed shall be stated.<br />
27.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />
27.3.1<br />
Builders work such as supplying and building in of plates, bolts, machine and lifting<br />
beams and the like, scaffolding to lift shafts, pit ladders and screens, unistruts etc.<br />
where not supplied by the lift sub-contractor, shall be scheduled in the appropriate<br />
section.<br />
27.3.2<br />
Building in of items normally supplied by the lift and escalator sub-contractor shall<br />
be scheduled in this section.<br />
27.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE<br />
27.4.1 Lifts<br />

27.4.1.1<br />
The dimensions, width, depth and height shall be stated. The construction of the<br />
platform and car shall be described with all internal linings and finishes stated. The<br />
provision of threshold plates, handrails, telephone cabinet, protective padded<br />
covers, doors and jambs, lighting, operating buttons and ventilation shall be stated.<br />
27.4.1.2<br />
Ropes and counterweights shall be described and enumerated.<br />
27.4.1.3<br />
Electrical work and control equipment shall be described and enumerated.<br />
27.4.1.4<br />
Motors shall be described and enumerated.<br />
27.4.1.5<br />
Hall operating buttons, indicators, faceplates, locking devices and signal fixture<br />
faceplates shall be described as to material and surface finish.<br />
27.4.1.6<br />
Doors shall be described giving size and type of construction, whether sliding, biparting,<br />
manual or automatic and surface finish stated.<br />
27.4.1.7<br />
Sills, jamb and head linings and architraves shall be described giving material<br />
sectional size and length in linear metres.<br />
