SECTION 33 -TERRAZZO WORK
33.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
33.2 PREAMBLES
33.2.1
Particulars shall be given of:
(a)
(b)
Proportions of mix to be used;
In situ or precast work.
33.2.2 Rates to include
(a)
(b)
(c)
Moulds and casings for precast work;
Grinding and polishing exposed face;
Protection and cleaning.
33.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
33.3.1
Terrazzo shall be scheduled in square metres of surface area covered, giving the
thickness, position in structure and method of fixing, bedding or placing.
33.3.2
Deductions shall be made for all openings having an area of 0.2 m2 and over.
33.3.3
Anti-static, specially coloured, patterned, or other special work shall be scheduled
separately. The method of earthing antistatic floors shall be stated.
33.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
33.4.1
Partition panels, column facings, and the like shall be enumerated for each size and
thickness .
33.4.2
Skirtings, coves, sills, copings, and the like shall be described and measured in
metres. Angles, stop-ends, and the like shall be enumerated.
33.4.3
Work not exceeding 300 mm in width shall be measured in metres as extra value.
This shall apply to all narrow widths except those in plane surfaces caused by
openings and the like.
33.4.4
Stair treads, nosings, and the like shall be enumerated.
33.4.5
Joint strips and the like shall be measured in metres.
