SECTION 12 - BRICKWORK
12.1 OVERVIEW

12.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
12.3.1
Unless otherwise specified, brickwork shall be scheduled in square metres and the
thickness shall be stated.
12.3.2
Exterior work shall be scheduled separately from interior work.
12.3.3
Brickwork shall be scheduled separately for each type of brick, except in composite
walls where facings and faceworkshall be scheduled in square metres as extra value
over ordinary brickwork, and the measurements shall include all exposed faces,
reveals, projections, and the like.
12.3.4
Walls built fair face both sides or entirely of facing bricks shall be scheduled
separately in square metres.

Descriptions shall include details of:
(a)
(b)
(c)
(d)
(e)
(f)
Type, size and quality of bricks. Purpose-made bricks shall be so described;
Size of facing bricks where different from those in the body of the work, and
the method of bonding such facings to the backings;
Type of bond:
Composition of mix and colour of mortar;
Thickness of joints;
Type of pointing, tooling or raking out joints;
(9) The general location and the height to which work rises.
