SECTION 25 - MECHANICAL SERVICES
25.1 OVERVIEW
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.
25.2 PREAMBLES
25.2.1 Rates to include
25.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES
Running joints, short lengths and straight non-reducing connections to
pipework;
All bends, elbows, tees and the like to pipework less than 25 mm nominal
bore;
All insulation to bends, elbows, tees, valves and the like on pipework less than
25 mm bore;
Jointing of taps, valves and the like to pipework and fittings;
Standard pipe fittings, clips, saddles, brackets, hangers and the like;
Fixing, hangers and supports to all ductwork and duct components;
Forming holes otherthan holesthrough concrete, concrete masonry, brickwork
and steel.
25.3.1
The work shall be scheduled under the following general classifications:
Plant and equipment items;
Pipework;
Ductwork;
Thermal insulation;
Automatic controls;
Electrical work;
Painting;
Sundries;
Such additional classifications for special services etc. as are appropriate;
General.

Within the above general classifications, items shall be grouped by systems (for
example supply/return/extract ductwork, chilled water/heating/gas pipework) and
quantities shall be separated for varying locations (plantrooms, floor levels, shafts
and the like).
