19.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE<br />
19.4.1 Windows<br />
19.4.1.1<br />
The description of windows, borrowed lights and combined frames shall include the<br />
number of lights or divisions or both, the number of sashes and the method of<br />
hanging sashes.<br />
19.4.1.2<br />
Detailed quantities shall be measured stating components as follows:<br />
(a)<br />
(b)<br />
Sills, heads, jambs, mullions, transoms, sash members, glazing beads and<br />
the like in metres. Alternatively sashes may be described and enumerated<br />
separately:<br />
Solid panels and the like in square metres, giving thickness.<br />
19.4.2 Doors<br />
19.4.2.1<br />
Doors shall be enumerated and measured separately for each finished size,<br />
thickness, grade, and quality. Clashing strips, beads, mouldings, rebates, glazed<br />
openings, glazing beads and the like shall be included in the description.<br />
19.4.2.2<br />
Doors of framed or special construction shall be measured separately. The sectional<br />
sizes of stiles, rails, muntins, panels and the like shall be stated.<br />
19.4.2.3<br />
Door frames shall be enumerated for each size.<br />
19.4.3 Stairs<br />
19.4.3.1<br />
The description of staircases and steps shall state the width, rise and going, together<br />
with the number of treads and risers and details of any winders.<br />
19.4.3.2<br />
Detailed quantities shall be measured stating components as follows:<br />
(a)<br />
(b)<br />
(c)<br />
(d)<br />
(e)<br />
Strings, carriages, treads, risers and nosings and the like in metres. Winders<br />
shall be measured separately;<br />
Ramped strings to winders shall be enumerated;<br />
Newels shall be enumerated;<br />
Handrails in metres. Changes in direction and level shall be enumerated and<br />
described according to type as extra value over straight handrails. Special<br />
finishes to end shall be enumerated;<br />
Balusters in metres stating the number of balusters.<br />
