SECTION 16 - METAL WINDOWS AND DOORS<br />
16.1 OVERVIEW<br />
Refer to section O, General rules, which shall be read in conjunction with this section.<br />
16.2 PREAMBLES<br />
16.2.1 Rates to include<br />
Sealants, gaskets, draught strips and the like not specifically mentioned in this<br />
section.<br />
16.3 GENERAL PRINCIPLES<br />
16.3.1<br />
Particulars shall be scheduled of the material and finish required, the material to<br />
which fixed, together with hinge systems and types.<br />
16.3.2<br />
Curtain walling, patent glazing, metal windows, doors and glazing shall be scheduled<br />
separately in this section. Metal frames not using proprietary sections may be<br />
scheduled in section 15.<br />
16.4 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE<br />

16.4.1<br />
Each type of window shall be enumerated separately stating the overall size and<br />
reference made to the appropriate drawings. Reveal linings shall be included in the<br />
description of the window where appropriate.<br />
16.4.2<br />
Curtain walling, patent glazing, shop fronts and the like shall be scheduled giving the<br />
quantities of the principal component parts.<br />
16.4.3<br />
Doors shall be enumerated with the frames stating the size and construction.<br />
16.4.4<br />
Structural mullions and special connecting members shall be measured separately.<br />
16.4.5<br />
Associatedflashings shall be measured in thissection in accordance with section23.<br />
16.4.6<br />
Where shop drawings and the like are required, an appropriate item shall be<br />
scheduled.<br />
16.4.7<br />
Sealants, gaskets and the like between metal sections and the structure shall be<br />
measured in metres stating the type, grade and sectional size.<br />
16.4.8<br />
Hardware shall be measured in this section in accordance with 17.4.12.<br />
16.4.9<br />
Glazing shall be measured separately in this section in accordance with section 36,<br />
except that domestic type windows may include the glazing if appropriate.<br />
