Out of the total ward-level waste generation, 65% is assumed to be wet waste. It has been assumed that only
20% of the total wet waste is used for decentralized treatment. Greater significance has been allocated to
biomethanation process and the approximate area requirements for the same have been estimated at the ward
levels. In case of wards with area constraints, such as central cramped old city wards, clubbing of treatment
facilities in adjoining wards can be thought of as a solution.
