Target:<br />

‣ To introduce specific guidelines for management and disposal of C&D<br />

waste generated within the city of Pune.<br />

Lead Agency: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) – Town <strong>Plan</strong>ning<br />

Department<br />

Support Agency: C&D Waste Management sub-division of the ISWM Cell<br />

including PBAP, Builders and Contractors, MCCIA, National Building<br />

Construction Company and Housing Urban Development Corporation, NGO’s,<br />

generators and housing societies<br />

Location (Suggested): Office of PMC – Town <strong>Plan</strong>ning Department<br />

Description: PMC can use the services of a consultant to formulate these<br />

guidelines. PMC should appoint a Municipal officer responsible for formulating<br />

and implementation of these guidelines. Certain disposal sites can be designated<br />

as disposal sites for C&D Wastes. The procedure for designating disposal sites<br />

for C&D Wastes has been explained in the Scheme for C&D Waste<br />

Management. The Officer in charge should approve other sites other than the<br />

designated disposal site, carryout inspection of premises where any C&D waste<br />

generation activity is being undertaken for review of compliance with the<br />

approved relevant waste management plan and prepare weekly reports of the<br />

various C&D waste generation activities at ward level should be submitted by<br />

building supervisors in each ward.<br />

Several inputs can be taken from the C&D Waste (Management and Disposal<br />

guidelines from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and these<br />

inputs may be incorporated in the C&D Waste Management Guidelines for Pune<br />

city<br />

Budget (Estimated): Rs. 0.7 Million<br />

recycling to all stakeholders<br />

in the integrated waste<br />

management of Pune City.<br />
