• To expand their activities and cover entire Pune city.

‣ Mr. Shantvan Shinde is himself a scrap dealer, migrated to Pune in 1973 from Beed and
since then he is into this business.
‣ As a result of draught in Marathwada region in 1972 many people came to Pune and major
portion of them works as rag pickers in Pune. He brought them together for house to house
solid waste collection and participated in Chakachak.
‣ Abhiyan foundation is sustaining on their own, it is a set up to bring rag pickers together, it
is limited till that activity. Rag pickers collect the solid waste from house, being it to the
ghanta gadi and segregate the waste there itself and load the waste to ghanta gadi after they
finish picking the recyclable waste.
