3.7.1 Compliance Related<br />

As outlined in Chapter 2, the SWM in Pune is covered under various regulations. The different<br />

requirements for MSW management have been addressed under the following:<br />

• Municipal Solid Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2000<br />

• Maharashtra Non-biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, 2006<br />

As discussed, the local municipal authority is required to provide all necessary systems and<br />

infrastructure under these regulations for the management of MSW. However the waste generators<br />

also have obligations described in the above. Table 3.8.summarizes a gap analyses in this<br />

perspective.<br />
