Airborne particulates (dusts) exceed 5 mg/m3 respirable particulates in the breathing<br />

zone.<br />

Criteria for Use of Level C PPE<br />

Work area must contain at least 19.5 percent but less than 23.0 percent oxygen content<br />

by volume.<br />

Contaminants have been identified, concentrations determined, <strong>and</strong> have a distinctive<br />

odor or taste.<br />

Cartridges or canisters exist that will provide protection from the contaminants at the<br />

concentrations present.<br />

Site conditions do not indicate the use of Level A or B PPE.<br />

General site entry conditions for combustible gases <strong>and</strong> radiation are within the guidelines<br />

contained in the EnSafe Corporate Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Manual, Table 2.1.<br />

Personal Hygiene<br />

Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tobacco, taking medication, <strong>and</strong> smoking are<br />

l<br />

l<br />

prohibited in contaminated or potentially contaminated areas or where the possibility for<br />

transfer of contamination exists.<br />

When leaving contaminated or potentially contaminated areas, h<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> face must be<br />

thoroughly washed immediately after decontamination. A thorough shower <strong>and</strong> washing<br />

of the body may also be required.<br />

Avoid contact with potentially contaminated substances. Do not walk through puddles,<br />

pools, muds, or other wet areas of the site. Whenever possible, avoid kneeling on the<br />

ground <strong>and</strong> leaning or sitting on the ground, drums, or equipment (other than the<br />

operators seat).<br />
