SCHOOL OF BUSINESS<br />

<strong>Houston</strong> <strong>Baptist</strong> <strong>University</strong> is nationally accredited by The Accreditation Council of Business Schools and<br />

Programs (ACBSP). The School of Business offers the following degree programs: Bachelor of Business<br />

Administration (BBA), Master of Accountancy (MACCT), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of<br />

International Business (MIB), Master of Science in Human Resources Management (MS-HRM), and Master of<br />

Science in Management (MS-MGMT).<br />

Undergraduate Programs<br />

The School of Business offers an undergraduate degree program leading to the Bachelor of Business<br />

Administration (BBA).<br />

A student who chooses a major within the School of Business is studying for a Bachelor of Business<br />

Administration (BBA) degree. The student may choose from the following majors: Accounting, Economics,<br />

Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing.<br />

Information Technology Policy<br />

Students taking courses offered in the School of Business will be expected to use e-mail, the university‘s intranet<br />

system, the World Wide Web, as well as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.<br />

Details of these requirements change from time to time, and current statements are available on the<br />

undergraduate and graduate web sites as well as from program or departmental offices.<br />

School of Business Exit Exam Policy<br />

All graduates from the School of Business must complete the School of Business Exit Exam. The School of<br />

Business will administer the exit exam to all graduating seniors with at least one major in the School of Business.<br />

The School of Business Exit Exam is normally taken in the last semester prior to graduation. In order to<br />

graduate, all School of Business students must sit for and pass this exam. A passing score is at least 139 points<br />

on the MFAT exam (or 70 percent or higher on any substitute exam). Students who do not pass the exit exam<br />

will be given one opportunity during the graduating semester to re-take and pass the exit exam. If the exit exam<br />

is not passed, graduation will be delayed, and students may be asked to take additional course work to<br />

demonstrate their proficiency in business administration.<br />

BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA)<br />

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is available only to students who major in the School of<br />

Business. Every undergraduate seeking the BBA degree must complete a major in an academic area –<br />

Accounting, Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing. This degree option is<br />

designed to prepare candidates for careers as professionals, entrepreneurs or for continued study towards<br />

graduate education.<br />

Business Administration Core (required for all BBA students)<br />

The Business Administration core consists of the business core requirements necessary for the study and practice<br />

of all business principles.<br />

The BBA core requires students to take the following courses:<br />

Business Administration 39<br />

ACCT 2301 Principles of Accounting I<br />

ACCT 2303 Principles of Accounting II<br />

BUSA 2301 Business Math<br />
