MFA 6338 Graduate Ceramics VIII<br />

These courses combine, through experimental processes, glaze variations and clay body recipes for low and high range<br />

firing temperatures. These courses in Ceramics will require a high level of traditional skills in building 3-Dimensional<br />

clay sculptural forms in addition to traditional ceramic techniques such as throwing, and hand-building. A student‘s<br />

work will master a number of new challenges in artistic focus by the end of the semester.<br />

MFA 6345 Graduate Sculpture V<br />

In this course, students will begin to master learning how to translate drawings into 3-Dimensional media such as steel,<br />

bronze, assemblage, found objects, wood, plaster, film, and installation including video and audio. Students will be<br />

expected to continue their development of a high level of drawing skill and materials and methods of sculpture both<br />

subtractive and additive techniques. All techniques used in this course and the resulting projects culminate towards<br />

each student‘s thesis content.<br />

MFA 6346 Graduate Sculpture VI<br />

In this course, students will continue to master learning how to translate drawings into 3-Dimensional media such as<br />

steel, bronze, assemblage, found objects, wood, plaster, film, and installation including video and audio. Students will<br />

be expected to continue their development of a high level of drawing skill and materials and methods of sculpture both<br />

subtractive and additive techniques. All techniques used in this course and the resulting projects culminate towards<br />

each student‘s thesis content.<br />

This course will allow a student to begin to master one or more of the following drawing and printmaking techniques:<br />

etching, silkscreen, woodblock printing, intaglio, mono printing in the traditional and digital processes. Students will<br />

discover a personal voice in preparation for the development of their thesis content.<br />

MFA 6356 Graduate Printmaking VI<br />

This course will allow a student to continue to master one or more of the following drawing and printmaking<br />

MFA 6358 Graduate Printmaking VIII<br />

printmaking techniques: etching, silkscreen, woodblock printing, intaglio, mono printing in the traditional and digital<br />

processes. Students will discover a personal voice in preparation for the development of their thesis content.<br />

MFA 6361 Graduate Gallery and Museum Practices I<br />

This Gallery and Museum Practices course will begin to introduce the MFA student to a conceptual and practical<br />

understanding of art exhibitions and their importance in the careers of visual artists, as well as their contributions to<br />

contemporary society. Visitations to <strong>Houston</strong> area museums and galleries will be an important component of this<br />

course. Lectures will be offered on the history of fine art venues from the late 19th century to the present.<br />
