EDUC 4240 Action Research<br />
The Action Research model is explored and students complete an Action Research project. Preparation for certification<br />
exams is also a component of the course. Students take this course immediately preceding student teaching or<br />
concurrent with student teaching if student teaching in the Fall semester.<br />
EDUC 4345 Evaluation and Accountability<br />
Prerequisites: Teaching experience and/or a course in instructional design (i.e., EDUC 4301 or EDUC 4311)<br />
This course is designed to enable the student to improve the design, construction, and validation of teacher-made tests,<br />
and to evaluate, select, administer, and interpret standardized tests for all levels of instruction. Also included is brief<br />
attention to the organization and management of schools and legal and ethical aspects of teaching. (Offered also as<br />
EDAD 5345, EDSP 5345, and EDUC 5345.)<br />
EDUC 4354 Advanced Applications of Curriculum and Instruction in Secondary Schools<br />
Prerequisite: EDUC 4311<br />
A course in which prospective student teachers combine campus-based instruction with a minimum of 25 clock hours<br />
of field-based experience in observation and the planning and presenting of lessons. An emphasis is placed upon lesson<br />
presentation skills, use of a variety of teaching methods, and application of classroom management skills. This course<br />
is a prerequisite for student teaching. (Offered also as EDUC 5354.)<br />
EDUC 4470 Student Teaching in the EC-4 Classroom<br />
Prerequisite: Approval of the Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based student teaching experience in grades EC-4 for students preparing for EC-4 certification. A<br />
student teacher works with an experienced teacher for one-half of an academic semester. (Offered also as EDUC 5370.)<br />
EDUC 4471 Student Teaching in the EC-6 Classroom<br />
Prerequisite: Approval of Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based student teaching experience in grades EC-6 for students preparing for EC-6 certification. A<br />
student teacher works with an experienced teacher for one-half of an academic semester.<br />
EDUC 4472 Student Teaching in Special Education<br />
Prerequisite: Approval of the Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based student teaching experience consisting of placement in a special education classroom.<br />
(Offered also as EDUC 5372.)<br />
EDUC 4484 Student Teaching in Elementary Physical Education<br />
Prerequisite: Approval of the Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based teaching experience in elementary school physical education for the student preparing for<br />
all-level physical education certification. The student teacher works with an experienced teacher in a school setting for<br />
one-half of an academic semester. (Offered also as EDUC 5384.)<br />
EDUC 4485 Student Teaching in Secondary Physical Education<br />
Prerequisite: Approval of the Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based teaching experience in secondary school physical education for the student preparing for<br />
all-level physical education certification. The student teacher works with an experienced teacher for one-half of an<br />
academic semester. (Offered also as EDUC 5385.)<br />
EDUC 4486 Student Teaching in the ESL Classroom<br />
Prerequisite: Approval of the Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based student teaching experience in the ESL classroom. The student teacher works with an<br />
experienced teacher in the ESL school setting for one-half of an academic semester. (Offered also as EDUC 5386.)<br />
EDUC 4487 Student Teaching in the Bilingual Classroom<br />
Prerequisite: demonstration of second language proficiency and approval of the Teacher Education Committee<br />
This course is a field-based student teaching experience in a bilingual classroom, where instruction is delivered in two<br />
languages. The student teacher works with an experienced teacher in the bilingual setting for one-half of an academic<br />
semester. (Offered also as EDUC 5387.)<br />
EDUC 4489 Student Teaching in Pre-School<br />
Prerequisites: Approval of the Teacher Education Committee and completion of all early childhood courses<br />
This course is a field-based student teaching experience in pre-kindergarten or kindergarten. The student teacher works<br />
with an experienced teacher in the pre-school setting for one-half of an academic semester.<br />
