HEBR 6352 Advanced Directed Studies in Hebrew<br />

Prerequisites: HEBR 5301, 5302, 6301, 6303 and 6351 or permission of the instructor<br />

Advanced studies in Hebrew grammar, syntax, linguistic approaches, and/or text critical theories with application to<br />

literature of the Hebrew Bible and/or Second Temple literature. Course may be repeated only once and only if course<br />

topic and content differs.<br />

HIST 2100 World Civilization Overview<br />

Prerequisite: HIST 2311, 2312, and either the Banner designation of ―Pre-Education‖ or ―Teacher Ed Admitted‖<br />

This course covers the broad themes of Asian, African, and Latin-American history from ancient times up to the<br />

modern era. This course is designed to meet the content for Composite Social Studies and History Teacher<br />

Certification majors.<br />

HIST 2311 Western Civilization I<br />

A survey of Western Civilization from the Ancient World to the end of the Middle Ages in Europe.<br />

HIST 2312 Western Civilization II<br />

A survey of Western Civilization from the Renaissance and Reformation to the present.<br />

HIST 2313 U.S. History to 1877<br />

A survey of American history from its origins to the close of Reconstruction.<br />

HIST 2323 U.S. History from 1877<br />

A survey of American history from the close of Reconstruction to the present.<br />

HIST 3313 Colonial America<br />

This course covers the history of colonial North America, from the first European settlements in the sixteenth century<br />

to the end of Spanish rule in northern New Spain in 1821. The primary focus is on the regions that later become part of<br />

the United States.<br />

HIST 3314 Revolutionary America<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />

A study of the causes and consequences of the American Revolution and the development of the United<br />

HIST 3323 Civil War and Reconstruction<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />

A study of the rise of sectionalism, the abolition crusade, the secession crisis, United States versus Confederate States,<br />

aftermath of the war, reconstruction, economic and social consequences of the war, and emergence of a New South.<br />

HIST 3333 History of Texas<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />

A survey course from the period of exploration and early colonization to the present. It includes the struggle for<br />

independence, the Civil War in Texas, and the growth of the state into an industrialized, urbanized society.<br />

HIST 3335 History of the American Presidency<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />

This course is a study of the presidents of the United States and their presidencies, from the time of George Washington<br />

to the present.<br />

HIST 3341 The Old South<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />

This course covers the history of the American South (the ―Old South‖) from the pre-contact period to the beginning of<br />

the Civil War.<br />

HIST 3344 Women in American History<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />

This course covers the history of American women from the pre-contact era to the present.<br />

HIST 3354 History of Britain I-to 1688<br />

Prerequisites: HIST 2311, 2312, 2313, 2323.<br />
