*Students who are teaching full time may require more than one semester to complete the required 350 hours of<br />
internship. Students who do not complete all 350 hours in EDSP 6191, they may register for additional<br />
semesters of Counseling Practicum with permission of the Dean of the School of Education.<br />
CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION<br />
The MEd in Curriculum and Instruction provides expertise related to curriculum content and instructional<br />
methodology. It allows teacher candidates to acquire initial certification and certified teachers to increase their<br />
professional knowledge and skills and add supplemental certifications and specializations. Each Curriculum and<br />
Instruction program requires a core of courses.<br />

Curriculum and Instruction with All-Level Teacher Certification<br />
NOTE: Teaching certificates are issued by the State of Texas, not the <strong>University</strong>. The State is currently changing<br />
some certification levels and requirements. In order to meet new guidelines from the Texas Education Agency,<br />
the <strong>University</strong> may change requirements described in this <strong>Catalog</strong>. Students should check with the School of<br />
Education office for current requirements.<br />
This option leads to both the MEd degree in Curriculum and Instruction and all-level Texas teacher certification<br />
in art, physical education, or music. The student must meet all admission, retention, and certification<br />
requirements for teacher education and have a certification plan completed by the certification officer. Based on<br />
an analysis of previous course work and TExES scores, the certification plan may require additional hours in the<br />
teaching field.<br />
For certification in all-level music, the following courses must be completed with no grade less than a ―C‖:<br />
