MLA 6386 Art Impressionism<br />
This course is designed to cover the movement of Impressionism in art during the latter part of the 19th century; it is<br />
recognized as the beginning point of the modern era in art. Works by the major artists of the group to be examined<br />
include Degas, Monet, Manet, Renoir, and Pissaro.<br />
MLA 6387 Music of Paris, 1870-1930<br />
This course is a survey of music composed, performed, and experienced in Paris at the turn of the century and through<br />
World War I. The survey will include a study of influences shared by the arts – visual, literary, ballet, opera, and other<br />
musical genre.<br />
MLA 6392 Modern Masters: Picasso<br />
This course consists of a thorough study of the life and art of the twentieth-century master artist, Pablo Picasso. His<br />
long and productive career is studied in the context of the complex arena of twentieth century art.<br />
MLA 6397 Shakespeare: History and Film<br />
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to William Shakespeare‘s plays about the Wars of the Roses; to<br />
examine those plays in the contexts of Shakespeare‘s era and our own; to analyze his use and misuse of his sources for<br />
dramatic and political purposes; and to study the major modern cinematic and televised adaptations of the plays.<br />

MUAP 1114 Class Piano I<br />
Remedial keyboard instruction for music majors whose applied instrument is not piano.<br />
MUAP 1124 Class Piano II<br />
Prerequisites: Bachelor of Music candidate; completion of MUAP 1114 or instructor approval.<br />
Keyboard instruction for non-piano majors.<br />
MUAP 1134 Class Piano III<br />
Prerequisites: Bachelor of Music candidate; 2) completion of MUAP 1124 or instructor approval<br />
Intermediate instruction in keyboard skills. Keyboard instruction for music majors who have demonstrated proficiency<br />
in the objectives covered in MUAP 1124 either by past enrollment or instructor assessment.<br />
MUAP 1144 Class Piano VI<br />
Prerequisites: Bachelor of Music candidate; completion of MUAP 1134 or instructor approval<br />
Advanced keyboard instruction directed toward demonstrated completion of Piano Proficiency requirements.<br />
MUAP 2104 Applied Skills for Pianists<br />
Class instruction for advanced piano students. Covers piano proficiency requirements for students whose major applied<br />
concentration is piano in degrees other than Bachelor of Music Performance.<br />
MUAP 3111 Studio Accompanying<br />
Prerequisites: must be a piano major, have permission of the instructor, and completed MUAP 3311 or 3321. Guided<br />
practical experience in Collaborative Arts for Piano Majors through assigned studio accompaniment and performance.<br />
MUAP 3211, 3221 Piano Laboratory<br />
Devoted to the development of keyboard skills including improvisation, harmonization, realization of figured bass,<br />
transposition, sight-reading, accompanying, and basic score reading. Proficiency test for piano majors required for final<br />
examination.<br />
MUAP 3213 Organ Construction and Design<br />
Study of the construction and design of the organ, minor organ repairs, and registration guidelines.<br />
MUAP 3223 Service Playing I<br />
Service literature, techniques, accompanying and conducting from the keyboard. Organ proficiency requirements are<br />
covered in both Service Playing I and II.<br />
MUAP 3233 Service Playing II<br />
Emphasis is placed on thorough bass playing, improvisation, modulations, transposition, re-harmonization.<br />
Requirements of the AGO Examinations are reviewed.<br />
