Department Chair and/or psychology faculty is required. Three letters of recommendation are required. If an<br />
applicant does not have an undergraduate major in psychology from a regionally accredited college, then<br />
specific background courses are required (PSYC 1313, 2301, and 2364), and must have been taken within the<br />
previous seven years.<br />
MATS – Master of Arts in Theological Studies<br />
A B.A. or a B.S. degree from an accredited institution is required. A minimum score of 900 on the GRE is<br />
required. Applicants who have a master‘s degree in a field, or are transferring from a master‘s program, are<br />
not required to take the GRE. Permission for entrance also will be based upon the applicant‘s previous<br />
academic record, interview with the program director, career goals, and recommendations as required by the<br />
application process.<br />
MEd – Master of Education<br />
Either a GPA of 2.5 or higher or a 3.0 on the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work is required for all<br />
programs. A GRE score of 800 or higher is required for all programs except Counselor Education. Prior to<br />
admission, Counselor Education applicants must submit a score of at least 850 on the combined verbal and<br />
quantitative portions of the GRE and a minimum score of at least 400 on the verbal section. The GRE General<br />
Test must have been taken within the last five (5) years, and scores must be submitted before program<br />
admission. The student who scores below 800 (combined verbal and quantitative) on the GRE may take six<br />
(6) hours of course work in a program as a provisionally admitted student. If the student has at least a 3.5<br />
GPA for the six (6) hours, the student may be granted full program admission. If the GPA is below 3.5, the<br />
student may no longer take graduate education course work unless a GRE score is presented that meets or<br />
exceeds 800. A valid Texas teaching certificate is required for certification as a principal or school counselor.<br />
For GRE scores below the minimum requirement of 850, consult the Dean of the School of Education.<br />

Application Deadlines: For students to be eligible for admission to the MEd program, applications are due as<br />
follows:<br />
Fall Admission: July 1<br />
Spring Admission: December 1<br />
Summer Admission: May 1<br />
Before a student may be considered for admission, the application file must be completed and fully supported<br />
by appropriate documents. International students are encouraged to file all materials six weeks prior to the<br />
beginning of the term.<br />
MLA – Master of Liberal Arts<br />
GPA of 3.0 or higher; submit a research paper; interview with program director; for the degree, students may<br />
select thirty-six hours of course offerings from among the courses offered each semester in various academic<br />
disciplines.<br />
MAcct, MBA, MIB, MS-HRM, MS-MGMT<br />
Applicants to graduate business programs should complete the following steps for admission:<br />
Submit an application for admission. The application can be found online at www.hbu.edu/MBA or can be<br />
requested in hard copy from the office of Graduate Programs in Business.<br />
Submit official transcripts. Transcripts should be sent directly to the office of Graduate Programs in Business<br />
from each college or university attended for both undergraduate and graduate level coursework.<br />
Provide your official GMAT score report. Take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). For<br />
information and to register to sit for the exam, visit the GMAT website at www.mba.com. You may order<br />
additional score reports online or by calling 609-771-7330. The <strong>HBU</strong> MBA code is 6282. The admission<br />
standards are different for each program:<br />
MAcct and MBA: GMAT of 500 is desired, with an AWA of 3.0<br />
MIB: A combination of GMAT score, years of work, and GPA<br />
