ART 4237 Applied Art: Fiber Arts II<br />

Prerequisite: ART 1313, 1323<br />

Students will complete an introductory experience of natural textiles and the culturally driven techniques traditionally<br />

used to design, decorate and construct functional forms pertaining to fiber. Techniques in dyeing, printing, wax resist<br />

and bleaching will be explored, as well as procedures in assembling and embellishing. Further development of<br />

experimental forms will be studied to encourage students to expand their awareness of the vast potential of fiber arts<br />

ART 4238 Life Drawing III Basic<br />

Prerequisites: ART 1303, 1313<br />

This figure drawing introduces students to an advanced experience with the following techniques, skills and<br />

knowledge: Gesture drawing, contour, cross contour, flash pose, memory drawing, descriptive poses, moving action,<br />

modeled drawing, descriptive poses, quick contour, extended contour, the long composition, studies of body parts water<br />

color studies, oil studies.<br />

ART 4241 Ceramics III Intermediate<br />

In this second advanced course, students carry on with more complex work using hand-built and wheel-thrown<br />

techniques of forming pottery. Experimentation continues with glaze formulation, glazing, firing and the search for a<br />

form language that expresses the individual are emphasized.<br />

ART 4242 Drawing III Intermediate<br />

This course continues the final series of drawing courses. Students in this course will work on more complex drawing<br />

exercises using various media and subject matter with emphasis on the human figure. Anatomical rendering, contour<br />

and value drawing are studies that will be utilized in the student‘s ultimate development toward a personal approach to<br />

drawing.<br />

ART 4243 Painting III Intermediate<br />

This course continues the more complex series of studio experiences based on problems designed to acquaint the<br />

student with the possibilities of various painting media and approaches to painting. Students are encouraged to explore<br />

and develop a personal direction for their work.<br />

ART 4244 Printmaking III Intermediate<br />

This course continues the final more complex series of printmaking learning experiences. Students in this course will<br />

apply more highly developed printmaking procedures in relief, intaglio, lithography, serigraphy, and experimental<br />

forms. The course will give the student a more sophisticated understanding of the possibilities of the printmaking<br />

media. Individual solutions are encouraged after basic technical procedure has been learned.<br />

ART 4245 Sculpture III Intermediate<br />

In this course students continue to develop a more advanced understanding of the many three-dimensional design<br />

problems associated with sculpture. Students will continue their exploration of various media in a variety of approaches<br />

including additive, subtractive, manipulative, and casting techniques.<br />

ART 4248 Life Drawing III Refined<br />

Prerequisites: ART 1303, 1313<br />

This figure drawing class completes the advanced experience with following techniques, skills and knowledge: Gesture<br />

drawing, contour, cross contour, flash pose, memory drawing, descriptive poses, moving action, modeled drawing,<br />

descriptive poses, quick contour, extended contour, the long composition, studies of body parts water color studies, oil<br />

ART 4251 Ceramics III Advanced<br />
