ART 3245 Sculpture II Intermediate<br />

In this course emphasis is placed on continuing to develop a refined understanding of many three-dimensional design<br />

problems and continuing to explore various media in a variety of approaches including additive, subtractive,<br />

manipulative, and casting techniques.<br />

ART 3248 Life Drawing II Refined<br />

Prerequisites: ART 1303, 1313<br />

This figure drawing class continues with a more developed experience of the following techniques, skills and<br />

knowledge: Gesture drawing, contour, cross contour, flash pose, memory drawing, descriptive poses, moving action,<br />

modeled drawing, descriptive poses, quick contour, extended contour, the long composition, studies of body parts water<br />

color studies, oil studies.<br />

ART 3251 Ceramics: II Advanced<br />

In this third refined skills level course, students continue to mature in their work with hand-built and wheel-thrown<br />

techniques of forming pottery. Experimentation continues with glaze formulation, glazing, firing and the search for a<br />

form language that expresses the individual are emphasized.<br />

ART 3252 Drawing II Advanced<br />

This course completes the refined series of drawing exercise using various media and subject matter with emphasis on<br />

the human figure. Anatomical rendering, contour and value drawing are studies that will be utilized in the student‘s<br />

ultimate development toward a personal approach to drawing.<br />

ART 3253 Painting II Advanced<br />

This course concludes a series of more refined studio experiences. It is based on problems designed to acquaint the<br />

student with the possibilities of various painting media and approaches to painting. Students are encouraged to explore<br />

and develop a personal direction for their work.<br />

ART 3254 Printmaking II Advanced<br />

This course concludes a more refined experience of learning printmaking procedures in relief, intaglio, lithography,<br />

serigraphy, and experimental forms. The course will give the student a more developed understanding of the<br />

possibilities of the printmaking media. Individual solutions are encouraged after basic technical procedure has been<br />

learned.<br />

ART 3255 Sculpture II Applied<br />

In this course emphasis is placed on accomplishing a refined understanding of many three-dimensional design<br />

problems and continuing to explore various media in a variety of approaches including additive, subtractive,<br />

manipulative, and casting techniques.<br />

ART 3285 Experimental Drawing<br />

Prerequisite: ART 2232 or 2242 or 2252<br />

Directed study of a minimum of thirty clock hours for each hour of credit. Topics and projects are selected based on<br />

student interest and need. Open to Art majors only.<br />

ART 3305 Art for the Secondary School<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to the <strong>HBU</strong> Teacher Education program<br />

This course involves the production of art using media and processes considered appropriate for middle school and<br />

senior high school art programs. Emphasis is placed on combining technique, exploration of media and interrelation of<br />

art appreciation with art activities.<br />

ART 3310 Art for Pre-Adolescents<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to the <strong>HBU</strong> Teacher Education Program.<br />

This course explores the philosophy of preschool and elementary pedagogy based upon Discipline-based Art Education<br />

(DBAE) and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards. The lab experience emphasizes practical applications for<br />

integrating art into a cross-curriculum program. (Offered also as INDC 3310.)<br />

ART 3315 Cultural Craft for the Pre-Adolescent Student<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to the <strong>HBU</strong> Teacher Education Program.<br />

This course combines a basic multicultural study of classical and traditional craft and creative problems in threedimensional<br />

media for teaching in the pre-adolescent (EC-6) classroom. (Offered also as INDC 3315.)<br />
